They are required to run the selftests:
- Tests are executed in v4 and v6.
- Virtual Ethernet are used between the different netns.
This has not been seen on NIPA before, because the 'ovpn' tests are
executed with the 'tcp_ao' ones, merging their config files. These two
kernel config are present in tools/testing/selftests/net/tcp_ao/config.
This issue is visible when only the ovpn config is used on top of the
default one. This is the recommended way to execute selftest targets.

The kselftests doc mentions that a config file should be present "if a
test needs specific kernel config options enabled". This selftest
requires some kernel config, but no config file was provided.
We could say that a sub-target could use the parent's config file, but
the kselftests doc doesn't mention anything about that. Plus the
net/openvswitch target is the only net target without a config file.
Here is a new config file, which is a trimmed version of the net one,
with hopefully the minimal required kconfig on top of 'make defconfig'.
The Fixes tag points to the introduction of the net/openvswitch target,
just to help validating this target on stable kernels.

This has not been seen on NIPA before, because the 'af_unix' tests are
executed with the 'net' ones, merging their config files. USER_NS is
present in tools/testing/selftests/net/config.
This issue is visible when only the af_unix config is used on top of the
default one. This is the recommended way to execute selftest targets.

Add a test that reproduces the stale ACL bug fixed by:
"fs: preserve ACL_DONT_CACHE state in forget_cached_acl()"
A FUSE mount that does not negotiate FUSE_POSIX_ACL initialises inodes
with i_acl = ACL_DONT_CACHE. Before the fix, calling
forget_all_cached_acls() (e.g. from fuse_update_get_attr() on a
statx(AT_STATX_FORCE_SYNC)) would silently replace ACL_DONT_CACHE with
ACL_NOT_CACHED, enabling the kernel ACL cache. A subsequent getxattr
would populate the cache, and because fuse_set_acl() skips
forget_all_cached_acls() for !fc->posix_acl, later ACL changes were
not visible to callers — getxattr returned stale data.
The test mounts a minimal libfuse3 lowlevel filesystem (no
FUSE_POSIX_ACL negotiated) and:
1. Issues two getxattrs — both must reach the daemon, proving
ACL_DONT_CACHE suppresses caching before any trigger.
2. Calls statx(AT_STATX_FORCE_SYNC) to trigger forget_all_cached_acls().
3. Issues another getxattr (populates the cache on a buggy kernel).
4. Switches the daemon to a different-sized ACL (ACL_B).
5. Issues a final getxattr — expects ACL_B (44 bytes) and daemon
call count 4; a buggy kernel returns stale ACL_A (28 bytes).
fuse_acl_cache_test is only built when libfuse3 is detected via
pkg-config.

Register OVS_KEY_ATTR_ICMPV6 in the flow key parser so that
icmpv6(type=...) can be used in flow specifications. Without this
registration the parser silently drops the token and the kernel
rejects the flow with EINVAL because the expected ICMPv6 key
attribute is missing.
While here, add convert_int() to the ovs_key_ipv6 and ovs_key_icmp
fields_map entries so that specifying a field value produces the
correct wildcard mask. The IPv6 flow label uses convert_int(20) to
produce a 20-bit mask (0x000FFFFF), matching the kernel constraint in
flow_netlink.c that rejects masks with bits 20-31 set; byte-wide
fields use convert_int(8). The ipv4 counterpart already does this via
convert_int(); the ipv6 and icmp classes were simply missing the fifth
tuple element. Existing callers that pass empty parentheses are
unaffected because convert_int("") returns (0, 0).
Add test_icmpv6 exercising the ICMPv6 echo flow key. The test uses
static neighbour entries with nud permanent to prevent racy NDP, then
verifies in three steps: install icmpv6(type=128) and
icmpv6(type=129) flows and confirm ping works, remove the flows and
confirm ping fails, reinstall and confirm recovery.

progs/lsm_bdev.c keys its verity_devices hashmap with the raw kernel dev_t
read straight off bdev->bd_dev, i.e. MKDEV(major, minor) = (major << 20) |
minor. prog_tests/lsm_bdev.c instead builds its lookup key with dev_key =
(__u32)st.st_rdev from stat(2), but the stat(2) syscall fills st_rdev via
the kernel's new_encode_dev(), a different bit layout: (minor & 0xff) |
(major << 8) | ((minor & ~0xff) << 12).
For any device with a non-trivial major these two values differ, so the
lookup can never find what the BPF program stored, and test_lsm_bdev()
always fails with:
test_lsm_bdev:FAIL:map lookup unexpected error: -2 (errno 2)
Reconstruct the raw kernel dev_t from the decoded major/minor instead of
casting st_rdev directly, restoring the layout the BPF program actually
reads.

After "make install", test_progs fails because two files end up in the
wrong place:
- bpftool: TEST_GEN_PROGS_EXTENDED flattens it into $(INSTALL_PATH), losing
the tools/sbin/ prefix that detect_bpftool_path() expects. Remove it from
TEST_GEN_PROGS_EXTENDED and install it explicitly under tools/sbin/
instead.
- *.BTF: resolve_btfids writes resolve_btfids.test.o.BTF as a side-effect
of the build but INSTALL_RULE never copies it over. Install all *.BTF
files alongside the rest of the per-flavor output.

The test asserted that the X86_FEATURE_SEV CPUID bit exactly matches
whether KVM offers KVM_X86_SEV_VM. That is not an invariant: when all
SEV ASIDs are assigned to SEV-SNP, KVM does not offer the SEV VM type
even though CPUID reports SEV, so the test aborts on an SNP-only host.
Derive SEV availability from KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES (as already done for SEV-ES
and SNP), assert only the one-way implication that a type offered by KVM
is also reported in CPUID, and TEST_REQUIRE() the SEV VM type so the test
skips cleanly when it is unavailable.

sev_smoke_test ran the plain SEV subtest unconditionally, gated only on
the X86_FEATURE_SEV CPUID bit, while gating SEV-ES and SNP on the
KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES bits. CPUID reporting SEV does not mean KVM offers the
SEV VM type: when all SEV ASIDs are assigned to SEV-SNP, KVM_X86_SEV_VM
is unavailable even though X86_FEATURE_SEV is set. On such a host the
test aborts in KVM_CREATE_VM instead of exercising the available modes.
Gate the SEV subtest on KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES like the others, so the test
runs the VM types the host actually offers.

Add a test that sends 2 MB of data using randomly sized small packets
(129-512 bytes) over a SOCK_STREAM connection. Packets above
GOOD_COPY_LEN (128) bypass the in-place coalescing in recv_enqueue(),
forcing each one into its own skb.
Without receive queue collapsing, the per-skb overhead eventually
exceeds buf_alloc and the connection is reset. The test verifies
that all data arrives and that content integrity is preserved.

Add a selftest to verify that FOU-encapsulated packets addressed to a
multicast destination are correctly resubmitted to the inner protocol
handler (GRE) via the UDP multicast delivery path. Both IPv4 and IPv6
paths are tested.
The test creates two network namespaces connected by a veth pair with
a FOU/GRETAP (IPv4) and FOU/ip6gretap (IPv6) tunnel using multicast
remote addresses (239.0.0.1 and ff0e::1). Ping is sent through each
tunnel and received packets are counted on the receiver's tunnel
interface.
The veth pair is created directly inside the namespaces to avoid
possible name collisions with devices in the root namespace.
Static neighbor entries are configured on the sender because ARP/ND
replies from the receiver cannot traverse the unidirectional multicast
tunnel back to the sender.
The early demux optimization (net.ipv4.ip_early_demux, which controls
both IPv4 and IPv6) is disabled on the receiver to force packets
through __udp4_lib_mcast_deliver() / __udp6_lib_mcast_deliver(), which
is the code path being tested.

Add a regression test for the NULL current->bpf_net_context deref hit
when a BPF classifier attached to a qdisc qevent block asks for a
redirect. The classifier runs from tcf_qevent_handle() on the qdisc
enqueue path, outside any bpf_net_context.

The IPv6 addresses used for the tun_vnet_udptnl fixture currently fall in
the 2002::/16 prefix, which is reserved for the 6to4 transition mechanism
(RFC 3056).
On systems where the sit module is loaded, the kernel automatically claims
2002::/16 as a 6to4 tunnel prefix. When the test assigns a 2002:: address
to a TUN interface, sit registers a competing local route for the same
address. This ambiguity breaks the GENEVE decapsulation path: packets
injected via the TUN fd are not delivered to the test socket, causing the
IPv6-outer gtgso send_gso_packet variants to fail.
Replace all four IPv6 test addresses with addresses from the fd00:db8::/32
range, which is part of the ULA space (fc00::/7, RFC 4193) and carries no
special kernel semantics.

PAGEMAP_SCAN reports an unpopulated pte differently depending on which
path serves the request. The PAGE_IS_WRITTEN fast path in
pagemap_scan_pmd_entry() reports a pte_none as written (and, under
PM_SCAN_WP_MATCHING, arms a marker); pagemap_page_category() returns 0 for
the same pte_none. A request that cannot take the fast path (an extra
category bit, category_anyof_mask or category_inverted) therefore reports
the pte as clean and skips arming it.
A range that was populated and then MADV_DONTNEED'd reads as written via
one mask and clean via another, and in the latter case is not re-armed for
the next round -- an incremental-dump consumer (e.g. CRIU) using a richer
mask drops the zapped range and stops tracking writes to it.
Report pte_none as written in pagemap_page_category() too. A pte_none
carries no uffd-wp marker, i.e. it is not write-protected -- the same
condition under which the present and swap cases already report
PAGE_IS_WRITTEN. The fast path applies no VMA test, so neither does this.
The hugetlb and fully-unpopulated-PMD (no page table) scans have no
PAGE_IS_WRITTEN fast path, so they do not exhibit the per-entry divergence
and are left unchanged.
Add a pagemap_ioctl selftest that populates a range, drops it with
MADV_DONTNEED, and checks that the fast path and the generic
(category_anyof_mask) path both report every page written.

The registered robust-list head has static storage but points at three
automatic lock nodes. GCC warns about storing the address of a local
variable in the static head when building the selftest with -Wall.
Give the nodes static storage as well. This keeps every object in the
circular list alive through child exit without changing the list topology.

Replace ASSERT_OK_PTR by ASSERT_NEQ(res, NULL, ...) when checking the
result of malloc. It is more accurate since malloc returns NULL, not an

This test uses usleep() to delay the main thread after creating the test
thread[s] under the assumption that they already are blocked on the futex
when the main thread continues.
That "works" on otherwise idle systems, but fails under load resulting in
failed selftests because the requeue operation starts before the waiters
reached the kernel.
Replace the usleep() waits by the new thread synchronization helpers to cure that.
[ tglx: Adapted to test harness changes, fixed coding style, sanitized the
timeout handling and rewrote change log.

There are timing issues in the use of threads in some selftests for futexes
as the tests rely on timed waits to ensure that the other test thread[s]
reached the lock wait function in the kernel.
That "works" on halfways idle systems, but fails under load which results
in tests failing.
Provide a set of helper functions to create test threads and to wait for
them to reach the lock wait by monitoring /proc/$PID/wchan.

The ovpn_parse_remote() function has two memory management issues:
1. When both 'host' and 'vpnip' are non-NULL, the first getaddrinfo()
allocation is leaked because 'result' is overwritten by the second
getaddrinfo() call without freeing the first allocation.
2. When both 'host' and 'vpnip' are NULL, 'result' is an uninitialized
stack variable passed to freeaddrinfo(), which is undefined behavior.
Fix by initializing 'result' to NULL and calling freeaddrinfo() after
the first getaddrinfo() result is consumed.

Add a verifier_arena case that fills a two-page arena, calls
bpf_arena_free_pages() with a scalar address one page below the arena
base, and then verifies that another allocation is still rejected.
Before the runtime guard, the invalid free can repopulate the free
tree with an out-of-domain offset and the final allocation succeeds.

CONFIG_IPV6_SEG6_LWTUNNEL is currently enabled in each arch-specific
config fragment for the BPF selftests. Commit 33a971d549d8
("selftests/bpf: Add LWT encap tests for skb metadata") has enabled this
config in the generic config as well, resulting in a small warning when
configuring a kernel for selftests:

Allocate and free arena pages, both from BPF and via user-space fault-in,
and check that the map's memlock in fdinfo tracks the number of pages that
are actually populated.
Like the other arena tests it runs serially.

Every arena reserves a 4GB kernel vmalloc region at creation, and on a
KASAN build that eagerly populates ~512MB of shadow memory per arena. When
several arena tests run in parallel their shadow adds up, exhausts the
memory of a small CI VM and trips the OOM killer during map creation.
Make the dedicated arena tests (arena_* and libarena*) serial so they no
longer pile up in the parallel phase. That alone brings the peak number of
live arenas back within the CI memory budget.
A few other tests such as verifier_arena*, stream and compute_live_registers
create an arena too, but they run inside shared RUN_TESTS()/RUN() suites, so
turning them serial would drag many unrelated subtests along with them.
Leave those as-is.

With commit 98149f542530 ("selftests/cgroup: Add test for cpuset affinity
on controller disable"), sashiko [1] reported 3 different issues with
the new test_cpuset_affinity_on_controller_disable() test.
1) `cpu_set_equal` iterates over mask bytes instead of bits, ignoring
CPUs >= 8.
2) Thread synchronization logic allows the main thread to read
uninitialized stack memory, causing test flakiness.
3) Test fails instead of skipping gracefully on uniprocessor systems
or when CPU 1 is unavailable.
Fix the reported issues by:
1) Iterates over the bit size of the mask.
2) Test the new ready flag for each thread to end the wait
on the conditional variable and eliminate the now unneeded
AFFINITY_THREAD_A_READY and AFFINITY_THREADS_READY test phases.
3) Return KSFT_SKIP on "cpuset.cpus" setting failure.

The test_cgcore_no_internal_process_constraint_on_threads test has two
back-to-back cg_enter_current(root) calls in its cleanup path.
A single cg_enter_current() call atomically migrates the entire thread
group to the target cgroup even for multi-threaded processes, and this
test creates no extra threads or child processes that would require a
second migration attempt. The second call is a harmless no-op once the
process is already in the root cgroup, but it is redundant and
inconsistent with the cleanup logic used in all other cgroup core
selftest cases.
Remove the duplicate call to clean up the code. No functional change is
intended.

Allocate VFIO ioctl requests dynamically instead of using VLAs. GCC 11.5.0
rejects initialized VLAs with:
error: variable-sized object may not be initialized

Add a new VFIO PCI driver for NVIDIA GPUs that enables DMA testing
via the Falcon (Fast Logic Controller) microcontrollers. This driver
extracts and adapts the DMA test functionality from NVIDIA's
gpu-admin-tools project and integrates it into the existing VFIO
selftest framework.
Falcons are general-purpose microcontrollers present on NVIDIA GPUs
that can perform DMA operations between system memory and device
memory. By leveraging Falcon DMA, this driver allows NVIDIA GPUs to
be tested alongside Intel IOAT and DSA devices using the same
selftest infrastructure.
The driver is named 'nv_falcon' to reflect that it specifically
controls the Falcon microcontrollers for DMA operations, rather
than exposing general GPU functionality.

Allow drivers that cannot trigger MSI interrupts to leave the send_msi
callback NULL. Add an fcntl_set_msi_nonblock() wrapper that only sets
nonblocking mode when send_msi is available, and update ASSERT_NO_MSI()
to skip when the driver lacks MSI support. The send_msi test SKIPs and
mix_and_match skips the MSI portion per iteration.

Add a chunking loop to vfio_pci_driver_memcpy() so that it breaks up
large memcpy requests into max_memcpy_size-sized chunks. This allows
callers to request any size without worrying about per-driver limits.
The memcpy_start()/memcpy_wait() semantics are unchanged.
Update the test to use 4x max_memcpy_size so it exercises the new
chunking path (4 iterations) while keeping execution fast for drivers
with small DMA transfer sizes.

The "mac" bind mode reactivation downs the interface, restores the saved
MAC and renames it to trigger a target resume. This assumes the recreated
interface comes back with a different MAC, which is true under
MACAddressPolicy=none (as on the Netdev CI) but not when MACs are
persistent. In the persistent case netconsole resumes the target on its
own, and the down/restore/rename flow instead drops it and fails the test.
Guard the block on the MAC having actually changed so the test passes
under both policies.

KF_IMPLICIT_ARGS kfuncs have a BPF-call prototype and a real kernel
target prototype. Add a tracing selftest that attaches fentry and fexit

Add a new selftest that exposes a bug in cpuset_attach() where thread
CPU affinity is not properly updated when the cpuset controller is
disabled in a threaded cgroup hierarchy.
The test creates a threaded cgroup hierarchy with two child cgroups
(A and B) having different cpuset.cpus constraints:
- Parent: cpuset.cpus=0-1
- Child A: cpuset.cpus=0-1
- Child B: cpuset.cpus=1 (restricted to CPU 1 only)
A multithreaded process is created with threads placed in different
cgroups. When the cpuset controller is disabled on the parent, thread
affinities should be updated to match the parent's cpuset.
Expected behavior:
- thread_a affinity: {0-1} before and after (unchanged)
- thread_b affinity: {1} before, {0-1} after (expanded)
Current buggy behavior:
- thread_b affinity remains {1} after controller disable
