The BTT info block's nfree field, the number of reserve free blocks, is
read from the medium without validation.  btt_freelist_init() and
btt_rtt_init() size the per-lane freelist[] and rtt[] arrays by nfree,
but the I/O path indexes them by the lane from nd_region_acquire_lane(),
which is bounded by nd_region-&gt;num_lanes (ND_MAX_LANES), not by nfree.
A crafted or foreign arena whose nfree is below the lane count makes
freelist[lane]/rtt[lane] run past the allocation: an out-of-bounds write.

btt.rst documents the nlanes = min(nfree, num_cpus) invariant, which the
code does not currently honor: num_lanes is ND_MAX_LANES regardless of
nfree.  Reject an arena whose nfree is below num_lanes at discovery,
before the per-lane arrays are allocated, enforcing that invariant.

The on-media namespace index field nslot is a u32 read from the DIMM
label storage area.  __nd_label_validate() bounds it against the config
area size, but sizeof_namespace_label() returns unsigned, so the product
nslot * label_size is evaluated in 32-bit and wraps modulo 2^32 before
the comparison.  A crafted nslot passes the bound and is then used as the
loop trip count in nd_label_data_init(), whose memset() walks off the end
of the config_size buffer: an out-of-bounds write.

The field is not trusted -- it comes from the medium, or from userspace
via ND_CMD_SET_CONFIG_DATA.  Evaluate the product in 64-bit so the bound
check is exact; conforming labels are unaffected.

The check was safe when introduced by commit 4a826c83db4e ("libnvdimm:
namespace indices: read and validate"): it multiplied by sizeof(struct
nd_namespace_label), a size_t, so on a 64-bit build the product did not
wrap.  Commit 564e871aa66f ("libnvdimm, label: add v1.2 nvdimm label
definitions") narrowed it to 32 bits when the label size became a runtime
value read via sizeof_namespace_label().

The nvdimm_bus guard accepts NULL and skips locking when NULL is passed.
Convert from DEFINE_GUARD() to DEFINE_CLASS() + DEFINE_CLASS_IS_GUARD().

This is a preparatory change for making DEFINE_GUARD() constructors
__nonnull_args(). nvdimm_bus legitimately passes NULL, so it must be
adjusted to avoid a compile error.

No functional change.

The arenas allocated by discover_arenas() or create_arenas() are not
freed on some error paths in btt_init(). This leaks memory when BTT
initialization fails.

Call free_arenas() from the affected error paths to release the
allocations.

Memory allocated by btt_freelist_init(), btt_rtt_init(), and
btt_maplocks_init() is not freed on some discover_arenas() error
paths. This leaks memory when arena discovery fails.

Add the missing kfree() calls to release the allocations before
returning an error.

BTT lanes serialize access to per-lane metadata and workspace state
during BTT I/O. The btt-check unit test reports data mismatches during
BTT writes due to a race in lane acquisition that can lead to silent
data corruption.

The existing lane model uses a spinlock together with a per-CPU
recursion count. That recursion model stopped being valid after BTT
lanes became preemptible: another task can run on the same CPU,
observe a non-zero recursion count, bypass locking, and use the same
lane concurrently.

BTT lanes are also held across arena_write_bytes() calls. That path
reaches nsio_rw_bytes(), which flushes writes with nvdimm_flush().
Some provider flush callbacks can sleep, making a spinlock the wrong
primitive for the lane lifetime.

Replace the spinlock-based recursion model with a dynamically
allocated per-lane mutex array and take the lane lock
unconditionally.

Add might_sleep() to catch any future atomic-context caller.

Found with the ndctl unit test btt-check.sh.

Pull vfs integrity updates from Christian Brauner:
 "This adds support to generate and verify integrity information (aka
  T10 PI) in the file system, instead of the automatic below the covers
  support that is currently used.

  The implementation is based on refactoring the existing block layer PI
  code to be reusable for this use case, and then adding relatively
  small wrappers for the file system use case. These are then used in
  iomap to implement the semantics, and wired up in XFS with a small
  amount of glue code.

  Compared to the baseline this does not change performance for writes,
  but increases read performance up to 15% for 4k I/O, with the benefit
  decreasing with larger I/O sizes as even the baseline maxes out the
  device quickly on my older enterprise SSD"

Dingisoul with KASAN reports a use after free if device_add() fails in
nd_async_device_register().

Commit b6eae0f61db2 ("libnvdimm: Hold reference on parent while
scheduling async init") correctly added a reference on the parent device
to be held until asynchronous initialization was complete.  However, if
device_add() results in an allocation failure the ref count of the
device drops to 0 prior to the parent pointer being accessed.  Thus
resulting in use after free.

The bug bot AI correctly identified the fix.  Save a reference to the
parent pointer to be used to drop the parent reference regardless of the
outcome of device_add().
