Pull vfs writeback updates from Christian Brauner:
 "This makes sync_inode_metadata() and writeback_single_inode() persist
  not only the inode but all metadata associated with it.

  A new .sync_inode_metadata superblock operation is called from
  __writeback_single_inode(). Alongside it a new I_METADATA_WRITEBACK
  state flag is added.

  Filesystems no longer need their own mmb_fsync() implementations and
  can just use simple_fsync(). All metadata is now written for IS_SYNC
  and IS_DIRSYNC inodes. Races where several fsyncs raced and mmb_sync()
  could return before all buffers were really persisted are fixed since
  I_SYNC now serializes properly.

  The I_METADATA_WRITEBACK scheme also fixes the case where a
  WB_SYNC_NONE writeback landing between write(2) and fsync(2) left
  fsync(2) failing to persist the inode. That problem is not specific to
  filesystems using the generic metadata bh tracking, and the ones that
  do not are left alone.

  ext2, udf, bfs, minix, fat and ext4 in nojournal mode have their data
  integrity writeout fixed and are converted. affs drops metadata bh
  tracking and mmb_fsync() is removed.

  A few other fixes came out of this:

   - a UAF in mark_buffer_write_io_error()

   - missed inode writeback when racing with __writeback_single_inode()

   - ext4 allocating the mapping_metadata_bhs struct on demand

   - three fat fixes: a lost inode update in do_msdos_rename() with
     DIRSYNC, inode buffer write errors not propagating out of
     fat_sync_inode_metadata() and directory entries not being
     persisted on fsync(2) of the root directory"

Convert ext2 iomap_ops to the new -&gt;iomap_next() callback. The callback is
generated with the DEFINE_IOMAP_ITER_NEXT_END() macro, which wraps the
iomap_iter_next() helper to finish the previous mapping if needed and
produce the next one. No functional changes are intended.

Ext2 could fail to properly write out inode on fsync(2) due to races
with WB_SYNC_NONE writeback. Several racing fsyncs could also result in
some fsync returning earlier than all metadata buffers were properly
persisted. Finally DIRSYNC handling was not properly persisting all
inode related metadata.

Fix all these issues by using new .sync_inode_metadata method which
makes sure all inode related metadata is written to disk during any
WB_SYNC_ALL writeback.

For sync(2) the generic code calls sync_blockdev_nowait() and later
sync_blockdev() to persist all metadata buffers. Thus there's no need
for ext2_write_inode() to do that which speeds up sync(2) writeback.

ext2_setsize() and ext2_xattr_set2() had a construct like:

	if (IS_SYNC(inode)) {
		sync_inode_metadata(inode, 1);
	} else {
		mark_inode_dirty(inode);
	}

which leads to lost inode updates for IS_SYNC inodes because
sync_inode_metadata() does anything only if the inode is already dirty
and hence inode updates may be simply lost. Fix the problem by
unconditionally marking the inode dirty and *then* call
sync_inode_metadata().

DAX support in ext2 was deprecated in commit d5a2693f93e4 ("ext2:
Deprecate DAX") with a removal deadline of end of 2025.  Remove all DAX
code from ext2 as scheduled.

This removes the DAX mount option, IOMAP DAX support, DAX file
operations, DAX address_space_operations, and the DAX fault handler.

Pull vfs buffer_head updates from Christian Brauner:
 "This cleans up the mess that has accumulated over the years in
  metadata buffer_head tracking for inodes.

  It moves the tracking into dedicated structure in filesystem-private
  part of the inode (so that we don't use private_list, private_data,
  and private_lock in struct address_space), and also moves couple other
  users of private_data and private_list so these are removed from
  struct address_space saving 3 longs in struct inode for 99% of inodes"

ext2_iget() already rejects inodes with i_nlink == 0 when i_mode is
zero or i_dtime is set, treating them as deleted. However, the case of
i_nlink == 0 with a non-zero mode and zero dtime slips through. Since
ext2 has no orphan list, such a combination can only result from
filesystem corruption - a legitimate inode deletion always sets either
i_dtime or clears i_mode before freeing the inode.

A crafted image can exploit this gap to present such an inode to the
VFS, which then triggers WARN_ON inside drop_nlink() (fs/inode.c) via
ext2_unlink(), ext2_rename() and ext2_rmdir():

Extend the existing i_nlink == 0 check to also catch this case,
reporting the corruption via ext2_error() and returning -EFSCORRUPTED.
This rejects the inode at load time and prevents it from reaching any
of the namei.c paths.

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.
