virtio_transport_recv_pkt() looks up sockets first by the full source and
destination tuple, then by destination only in the bound table. The
fallback is needed for listening and connecting sockets, but sockets remain
in the bound table after connect(), so it can also return a non-listening
socket.

The fallback does not validate the source address. In TCP_SYN_SENT, a
RESPONSE from an unrelated source can transition the victim socket to
TCP_ESTABLISHED while its stored remote address remains unchanged.
Subsequent RW packets from that source are delivered through the same
destination-only fallback.

This was reproduced with capability-empty processes under different UIDs.
The attacker discovered the target tuple through unprivileged AF_VSOCK
sock_diag and caused the victim socket to read 16 attacker-chosen bytes;
the intended peer-side socket read 0 of those 16 bytes.

Add vsock_check_source() to validate the transport, source port and source
CID against the peer stored in a non-listening socket. The local transport
is the CID exception because its packets are generated internally with
VMADDR_CID_LOCAL as their source, including connections using CID aliases.

Use the helper after lock_sock() in the virtio receive path.

After previous patch, the branch marking a socket rejected in
vsock_accept() is unreachable, and nothing ever sets vsk-&gt;rejected
elsewhere.

In fact, since commit d021c344051a ("VSOCK: Introduce VM Sockets"),
where `rejected` was introduced, there has never been a path that sets
sk_err on a listening socket, so that branch has been dead code since
the beginning.

Therefore, we can remove the `rejected` field from vsock_sock structure.

Add vsock_pending_to_accept() to move a socket directly from the
pending list to the accept queue in a single operation, avoiding
the sock_put/sock_hold dance and the sk_acceptq_removed()/
sk_acceptq_added() pair that would otherwise be needed when
calling vsock_remove_pending() followed by vsock_enqueue_accept().

Use it in vmci_transport_recv_connecting_server() where a completed
handshake transitions the socket from pending to accept queue.

<title>vsock: add G2H fallback for CIDs not owned by H2G transport</title>

<id>urn:sha1:0de607dc4fd80ede3b2a35e8a72f99c7a0bbc321</id>
<content type='text'>
When no H2G transport is loaded, vsock currently routes all CIDs to the
G2H transport (commit 65b422d9b61b ("vsock: forward all packets to the
host when no H2G is registered"). Extend that existing behavior: when
an H2G transport is loaded but does not claim a given CID, the
connection falls back to G2H in the same way.

This matters in environments like Nitro Enclaves, where an instance may
run nested VMs via vhost-vsock (H2G) while also needing to reach sibling
enclaves at higher CIDs through virtio-vsock-pci (G2H). With the old
code, any CID &gt; 2 was unconditionally routed to H2G when vhost was
loaded, making those enclaves unreachable without setting
VMADDR_FLAG_TO_HOST explicitly on every connect.

Requiring every application to set VMADDR_FLAG_TO_HOST creates friction:
tools like socat, iperf, and others would all need to learn about it.
The flag was introduced 6 years ago and I am still not aware of any tool
that supports it. Even if there was support, it would be cumbersome to
use. The most natural experience is a single CID address space where H2G
only wins for CIDs it actually owns, and everything else falls through to
G2H, extending the behavior that already exists when H2G is absent.

To give user space at least a hint that the kernel applied this logic,
automatically set the VMADDR_FLAG_TO_HOST on the remote address so it
can determine the path taken via getpeername().

Add a per-network namespace sysctl net.vsock.g2h_fallback (default 1).
At 0 it forces strict routing: H2G always wins for CID &gt; VMADDR_CID_HOST,
or ENODEV if H2G is not loaded.

Two administrator processes may race when setting child_ns_mode as one
process sets child_ns_mode to "local" and then creates a namespace, but
another process changes child_ns_mode to "global" between the write and
the namespace creation. The first process ends up with a namespace in
"global" mode instead of "local". While this can be detected after the
fact by reading ns_mode and retrying, it is fragile and error-prone.

Make child_ns_mode write-once so that a namespace manager can set it
once and be sure it won't change. Writing a different value after the
first write returns -EBUSY. This applies to all namespaces, including
init_net, where an init process can write "local" to lock all future
namespaces into local mode.

Add netns logic to vsock core. Additionally, modify transport hook
prototypes to be used by later transport-specific patches (e.g.,
*_seqpacket_allow()).

Namespaces are supported primarily by changing socket lookup functions
(e.g., vsock_find_connected_socket()) to take into account the socket
namespace and the namespace mode before considering a candidate socket a
"match".

This patch also introduces the sysctl /proc/sys/net/vsock/ns_mode to
report the mode and /proc/sys/net/vsock/child_ns_mode to set the mode
for new namespaces.

Add netns functionality (initialization, passing to transports, procfs,
etc...) to the af_vsock socket layer. Later patches that add netns
support to transports depend on this patch.

This patch changes the allocation of random ports for connectible vsocks
in order to avoid leaking the random port range starting point to other
namespaces.

dgram_allow(), stream_allow(), and seqpacket_allow() callbacks are
modified to take a vsk in order to perform logic on namespace modes. In
future patches, the net will also be used for socket
lookups in these functions.

From commit 634f1a7110b4 ("vsock: support sockmap"), `struct proto
vsock_proto`, defined in af_vsock.c, is not static anymore, since it's
used by vsock_bpf.c.

If CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL is not defined, `make C=2` will print a warning:
    $ make O=build C=2 W=1 net/vmw_vsock/
      ...
      CC [M]  net/vmw_vsock/af_vsock.o
      CHECK   ../net/vmw_vsock/af_vsock.c
    ../net/vmw_vsock/af_vsock.c:123:14: warning: symbol 'vsock_proto' was not declared. Should it be static?

Declare `vsock_proto` regardless of CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL, since it's defined
in af_vsock.c, which is built regardless of CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL.

Lingering should be transport-independent in the long run. In preparation
for supporting other transports, as well as the linger on shutdown(), move
code to core.

Generalize by querying vsock_transport::unsent_bytes(), guard against the
callback being unimplemented. Do not pass sk_lingertime explicitly. Pull
SOCK_LINGER check into vsock_linger().

Flatten the function. Remove the nested block by inverting the condition:
return early on !timeout.

After a vsock socket has been added to a BPF sockmap, its prot-&gt;recvmsg
has been replaced with vsock_bpf_recvmsg(). Thus the following
recursiion could happen:

vsock_bpf_recvmsg()
 -&gt; __vsock_recvmsg()
  -&gt; vsock_connectible_recvmsg()
   -&gt; prot-&gt;recvmsg()
    -&gt; vsock_bpf_recvmsg() again

We need to fix it by calling the original -&gt;recvmsg() without any BPF
sockmap logic in __vsock_recvmsg().
