The flowtable path discovery stops at the DSA user device when setting
up the forward path. Let's just report there is no more devices after
the DSA user port through the .fill_forward_path interface.

The tag_8021q.c tagger calls vlan_insert_tag() in dsa_8021q_xmit().
vlan_insert_tag() will consume the skb with kfree_skb() on failure
and return NULL.

When NULL is returned as error code to -&gt;xmit() in dsa_user_xmit()
it will free the same skb again leading to a double-free.

The idea of dsa_user_xmit() and dsa_switch_rcv() dropping the skb
they held before the call to -&gt;xmit() and -&gt;rcv() is conceptually
wrong: the pattern elsewhere in the networking code is that consumers
drop their skb:s on failure.

Modify the -&gt;xmit() and -&gt;rcv() call sites to not drop the SKB if
the taggers return NULL from any of these calls. Move those drops into
the taggers so every callback error path that retains ownership consumes
the skb before returning NULL.

Keep the existing helper ownership rules: VLAN insertion helpers already
free on failure (this is the case in tag_8021q.c), while deferred
transmit paths either transfer the skb reference to worker context or
hold a worker reference with skb_get() and drop the caller's reference.

For SJA1105 meta RX, transfer the buffered stampable skb under the meta
lock and return NULL while the skb is waiting for its meta frame: the
skb is not dropped in this case.

NOTICE: Backporting patches to taggers (e.g. for stable kernels) after
this point cannot be mechanical or they will introduce double
kfree_skb().

Drivers might have error messages to propagate to user space. Propagate
the netlink extack so that they can inform user space in a verbal way of
their limitations.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\&lt;k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

David Yang is saying that struct flow_action_entry in
include/net/flow_offload.h has gained new fields and DSA's struct
dsa_mall_policer_tc_entry, derived from that, isn't keeping up.
This structure is passed to drivers and they are completely oblivious to
the values of fields they don't see.

This has happened before, and almost always the solution was to make the
DSA layer thinner and use the upstream data structures. Here, the reason
why we didn't do that is because struct flow_action_entry :: police is
an anonymous structure.

That is easily enough fixable, just name those fields "struct
flow_action_police" and reference them from DSA.

Make the according transformations to the two users (sja1105 and felix):
"rate_bytes_per_sec" -&gt; "rate_bytes_ps".

Commit cc34acd577f1 ("docs: net: document new locking reality")
introduced netif_ vs dev_ function semantics: the former expects locked
netdev, the latter takes care of the locking. We don't strictly
follow this semantics on either side, but there are more dev_xxx handlers
now that don't fit. Rename them to netif_xxx where appropriate.

netif_close_many is used only by vlan/dsa and one mtk driver, so move it into
NETDEV_INTERNAL namespace.

New timestamping API was introduced in commit 66f7223039c0 ("net: add
NDOs for configuring hardware timestamping") from kernel v6.6. It is
time to convert DSA to the new API, so that the ndo_eth_ioctl() path can
be removed completely.

Move the ds-&gt;ops-&gt;port_hwtstamp_get() and ds-&gt;ops-&gt;port_hwtstamp_set()
calls from dsa_user_ioctl() to dsa_user_hwtstamp_get() and
dsa_user_hwtstamp_set().

Due to the fact that the underlying ifreq type changes to
kernel_hwtstamp_config, the drivers and the Ocelot switchdev front-end,
all hooked up directly or indirectly, must also be converted all at once.

The conversion also updates the comment from dsa_port_supports_hwtstamp(),
which is no longer true because kernel_hwtstamp_config is kernel memory
and does not need copy_to_user(). I've deliberated whether it is
necessary to also update "err != -EOPNOTSUPP" to a more general "!err",
but all drivers now either return 0 or -EOPNOTSUPP.

The existing logic from the ocelot_ioctl() function, to avoid
configuring timestamping if the PHY supports the operation, is obsoleted
by more advanced core logic in dev_set_hwtstamp_phylib().

This is only a partial preparation for proper PHY timestamping support.
None of these switch driver currently sets up PTP traps for PHY
timestamping, so setting dev-&gt;see_all_hwtstamp_requests is not yet
necessary and the conversion is relatively trivial.
