Commit 47b5ac7daa46 ("drm/atomic: Add new atomic_create_state callback
to drm_private_obj") introduced a new pattern for allocating drm object
states: atomic_create_state, a dedicated hook that allocates and
initializes a pristine state without any side effect.
The bridge atomic_reset callback is already fallible and in practice
only allocates and initializes state without touching hardware.
However, the reset name does not make this contract clear: callers
and implementers cannot tell from the name alone whether the hardware
will be affected or when the hook is safe to call.
Add an atomic_create_state callback to drm_bridge_funcs to make the
contract explicit: allocate a pristine state, initialize it, no side
effects. The core calls it when available, falling back to
atomic_reset otherwise.

__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_state_init() is always called on a freshly
kzalloc-ed state, so the memset is redundant.
Drop it and document the expectation that the state is already zeroed.

arguments
The convention for state init helpers is to pass the state pointer
as the first argument and the object pointer second.
__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_state_init() has them in the opposite
order. Swap the arguments to follow the convention, and update the
cdns-mhdp8546 caller.

__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_reset() is used to initialize a
newly allocated drm_bridge_state, and is being typically called by the
drm_bridge_funcs.atomic_reset implementation.
Since we want to consolidate DRM objects state allocation around the
atomic_create_state callback that will only allocate and initialize a
new drm_bridge_state instance, we will need to call
__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_reset() from both the atomic_reset and
atomic_create_state hooks.
To avoid any confusion, we can thus rename
__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_reset() to
__drm_atomic_helper_bridge_state_init().

must return either a valid drm_bridge_state object or an ERR_PTR().
The cdns_mhdp_bridge_atomic_reset() callback returns NULL when the
allocation of its state fails, violating this contract.
Return ERR_PTR(-ENOMEM) instead.

Passing a maximum as 64-bit type to drm_sysfb_get_validated_int0()
can truncate the value to 32 bits. Use drm_sysfb_get_validated_size0(),
which uses 64-bit arithmetics. Then test the returned stride against
the limits of int to avoid truncations in the returned value. A valid
stride is in the range of [1, INT_MAX] inclusive.

Change the return type of drm_sysfb_get_visible_size() to s64 so
that it returns a possible errno code from _get_validated_size0().
Fix callers to handle the errno code.
The currently returned unsigned type converts an errno code to a
very large size value, which drivers interpret as visible size of
the system framebuffer. Later efforts to reserve the framebuffer
resource fail.
The bug has been present since efidrm and vesadrm got merged. It
was then part of each driver.

Calculating the visible size of the system framebuffer can result in
truncation of the result. The calculation uses 32-bit arithmetics,
which can overflow if the values for height and stride are large. Fix
the issue by multiplying with mul_u32_u32().

Only return the actually visible size of the system framebuffer in
drm_sysfb_get_visible_size_si(). Drivers use this size value for
reserving access to framebuffer memory. Increasing the value can
make later attempts to do so fail.

drm_parse_tiled_block() casts the DisplayID block to a
struct displayid_tiled_block and reads the full fixed layout up to
tile->topology_id[7] without checking block->num_bytes. The DisplayID
iterator only validates the declared payload length, so a crafted EDID
can advertise a tiled-display block (tag DATA_BLOCK_TILED_DISPLAY, or
DATA_BLOCK_2_TILED_DISPLAY_TOPOLOGY for v2.0) with a small num_bytes at
the end of a DisplayID extension. The read then runs past the end of the
exact-sized kmemdup()'d EDID allocation, a heap out-of-bounds read.
Reject blocks shorter than the spec's 22-byte tiled payload before
reading the fixed struct, as drm_parse_vesa_mso_data() already does.

The resource freed at the 'put_aux' label is "sor->aux->dev".
However, this resource is taken after devm_tegra_pmc_get(), so there is no
point to release it in this error handling path.
This is harmless because put_device() will be called with a NULL pointer,
but this is confusing.
So, fix the logic and return directly.

xe_drm_ras to allow userspace to query and clear counters if supported.

Lets simplify and make clearer the fence lock cycling workaround in
nouveau_cli_work().
The reason for the workaround is that the worker processes the list of
pending work items (and so fence callbacks) opportunisticaly, while
dma_fence_is_signaled() returns true as soon as a the fence is signaled.
It is therefore not allowed for the opportunistic processing to free the
work item, since the fence callback processing can still be in the process
of dereferencing work->cb.
This wasn't very clear in the code so clarify it with a nice comment.
In the process we replace the somewhat interleaved and not very readable
nouveau_cli_work_ready() helper with a direct dma_fence_is_signaled, which
is even faster since it removes the lock cycling from the unsignaled fence
path.

We've had an unknown Turing issue for a while with page faults since
large pages and compression.
I've got a patch series that syncs all our L2 handling with ogkm and it
made this fault happen more.
After writing a bunch of debugging patches, I spotted an invalid LPT
entry where there should have been a valid one.
A 64K MAP succeeds on a range, but a subsequent SPT put drops SPT refs
across multiple ranges,
We shouldn't assume all ranges where SPTEs go away will have the same
sparse/invalid/valid state, just iterate over each instead and do the
right thing.

In the non-uvmm path, there could be a race between the info lookup
finding the vma, and the gem close path closing the vma leading
to a use-after-free.
Spotted with the help of Opus 4.6.

nouveau_uvmm_vm_bind_ucopy() and nouveau_exec_ucopy() place their error
cleanup labels in allocation order rather than reverse allocation order.
On a u_memcpya() failure for in_sync.s, the goto to err_free_ops (or
err_free_pushs) frees the first allocation and then falls through to
err_free_ins, which calls u_free() on args->in_sync.s.
Since args->in_sync.s still holds the ERR_PTR returned by the failed
u_memcpya(), and ERR_PTR values are not caught by ZERO_OR_NULL_PTR(),
kvfree() proceeds to dereference it, which can result in a kernel oops.
A failure for out_sync.s instead jumps to err_free_ins and skips freeing
the first allocation, leading to a memory leak.
Fix by swapping the cleanup label order so resources are freed in the
correct reverse allocation sequence.

In nvkm_acr_oneinit(), nvkm_kmap(acr->wpr) is invoked unconditionally
at line 309 to obtain a mapping reference. Additionally, when both
acr->wpr_fw and acr->wpr_comp are present, a second nvkm_kmap() is
called inside the conditional block. Both mappings are expected to be
released by nvkm_done(acr->wpr) at line 320 before the function returns
successfully.
However, when a mismatch is detected during the loop within the
conditional block, the function returns -EINVAL at line 318 without
calling nvkm_done(). This results in a leak of the kmap reference(s)
acquired earlier.
Fix the issue by invoking nvkm_done(acr->wpr) prior to the early return
to ensure proper release of the mapping references.

The GSP static information is useful during regular driver runtime;
however it is currently obtained from `Gsp::boot`, with no elegant way
to pass it back to the caller.
Solve this by moving the code acquiring it to a dedicated method of
`Gsp` that can be called as soon as the `Gsp` is booted. This allows us
to obtain and display the static information from the `Gpu` constructor,
and to store the static information for later use.
Its location at the end of `Gsp::boot` was a bit out-of-place anyway:
technically, the GSP is considered booted after we have received the
`GspInitDone` message, so anything that happens afterwards is not part
of the boot sequence anymore.

`Gpu` currently owns the state needed to unload the GSP directly. This
means that `unload_bundle` has to be the last initialized field: once GSP
boot succeeds, any later initialization failure would leave `Gpu`
partially initialized, and its `PinnedDrop` implementation would not run.
This prevents adding fallible `Gpu` fields that need to query the GSP
after it has booted.
Move the GSP state and unload bundle into a dedicated pinned
`GspResources` object. Once that subobject has been initialized, its
`PinnedDrop` implementation will run even if initialization of a later
`Gpu` field fails, ensuring that the GSP unload sequence is executed.

Bspec has been updated for xe2_lpd+ platforms on how to handle
the bw buddy programming in case no matching memory configuration
is found w.r.t the current page mask table. The recommendation
is to keep the default settings for the related registers as it
is without explicitly disabling the bw buddy.

that support it, and never routed as direct IRQ to SGUnit. Defeature

When the VRR timing generator is always used, the hardware behaves
as VRR-active regardless of crtc_state->vrr.enable.
The DSB paths that depend on the VRR safe window therefore need to follow
the VRR code paths in that case too:
- dsb_chicken(): program the SAFE_WINDOW chicken bits,
- intel_dsb_vblank_evade(): use vmin/vmax vblank starts for the
wait window,
- intel_dsb_wait_for_delayed_vblank(): wait inside the vmin safe window
before the scanline-based delayed vblank wait.
Introduce helper pre_commit_use_safe_window() and use it in the three sites
v2: Instead of modifying pre_commit_is_vrr_active() use a new helper and
use it only in the required places. (Ville).

In intel_dsb_wait_for_delayed_vblank() the VRR path issues a
WAIT_DSL_OUT(safe_window_start, vmin_safe_window_end) followed by a
WAIT_USEC for SCL+1 scanlines to land on the delayed vblank.
Experimentally, DSB appears to observe a slightly stale PIPEDSL value.
When the actual scanline has just reached safe_window_start, the DSB
may still see a value at or before that boundary when WAIT_DSL_OUT is
evaluated, causing the wait to complete immediately.
As a result, the subsequent WAIT_USEC executes too early, and the
flip-done interrupt fires roughly one frame ahead of the delayed vblank.
Shift the scanline start back by one to ensure the wait window is
entered reliably.

actually select pipe C on ICL. So we can get rid of the weird
ICL special case and just use the simpler TGL+ definition of
the pipe select bits.
This was reverse engineered with a hacked up intel_display_poller.

Currently bxt_sanitize_cdclk() assumes that
bxt_cdclk_cd2x_pipe(INVALID_PIPE) gives us the full mask for
for the relevant bitfield. While that is true, it does make the
code a bit confusing to read. Introduce bxt_cdclk_cd2x_pipe_mask()
to make the situation a bit less confusing.

The GOP (and even Bspec on some platforms) is a bit inconsistent
on what the CDCLK_FREQ_DECIMAL divider should be. Currently any
mismatch there causes a full CDCLK PLL disable+re-enable, which
we really don't want to do if any displays are currently active.
Let's instead just reprogram CDCLK_FREQ_DECIMAL when that is the
only thing amiss. For any other (more serious) mismatch we still
punt to the full PLL reprogramming.
We also need to tweak the bxt_cdclk_cd2x_pipe() stuff a bit to
consistently select pipe==NONE since we have no idea which pipes
are enabled at this point. Since we're not actually changing the
CDCLK frequency here we don't need to sync the update to any
pipe.

The backlight, when managed by the panel controller, could be powered by
an external regulator, and shutting down the regulator could power off
the backlight.
Add support for such a regulator. It's powered off when the backlight is
0 (either by setting brightness to 0 or setting bl_power), and powered
on when the backlight should be operating.
