attach_probe/uprobe-lib and uprobe_autoattach selftests fail with "failed to resolve full path for libc.so.6" on older non-usrmerged distros, where libc.so.6 lives under a top-level /lib64 or /lib rather than /usr/lib64 or /usr/lib. Add /lib64:/lib to the search paths, alongside the existing /usr/lib64:/usr/lib and Debian multiarch entries. 2026-07-21selftests/bpf: Fix lsm_bdev dev_t encoding mismatchRicardo B. Marlière
progs/lsm_bdev.c keys its verity_devices hashmap with the raw kernel dev_t read straight off bdev->bd_dev, i.e. MKDEV(major, minor) = (major << 20) | minor. prog_tests/lsm_bdev.c instead builds its lookup key with dev_key = (__u32)st.st_rdev from stat(2), but the stat(2) syscall fills st_rdev via the kernel's new_encode_dev(), a different bit layout: (minor & 0xff) | (major << 8) | ((minor & ~0xff) << 12). For any device with a non-trivial major these two values differ, so the lookup can never find what the BPF program stored, and test_lsm_bdev() always fails with: test_lsm_bdev:FAIL:map lookup unexpected error: -2 (errno 2) Reconstruct the raw kernel dev_t from the decoded major/minor instead of casting st_rdev directly, restoring the layout the BPF program actually reads. After "make install", test_progs fails because two files end up in the wrong place: - bpftool: TEST_GEN_PROGS_EXTENDED flattens it into $(INSTALL_PATH), losing the tools/sbin/ prefix that detect_bpftool_path() expects. Remove it from TEST_GEN_PROGS_EXTENDED and install it explicitly under tools/sbin/ instead. - *.BTF: resolve_btfids writes resolve_btfids.test.o.BTF as a side-effect of the build but INSTALL_RULE never copies it over. Install all *.BTF files alongside the rest of the per-flavor output. 2026-07-21rtla/timerlat_top: Fix on-threshold actions firing on signalTomas Glozar
A bug was reported when rtla-timerlat-top tool performs on-threshold actions, even though no threshold was hit. This is reproduced even if no threshold is set at all: $ rtla timerlat top -q -c 0 --on-threshold shell,command='echo BAD' BAD Timer Latency ... The bug is due to incorrect logic in timerlat_top_bpf_main_loop(). The loop uses timerlat_bpf_wait(), the return values of which are: - > 0 (number of ringbuffer entries): at least 1 CPU hit threshold - = 0: time out - < 0: wait was interrupted by a signal Commit 3138df6f0cd0 ("rtla/timerlat: Exit top main loop on any non-zero wait_retval") changed the condition for "threshold hit" from "wait_reval == 1" (exactly 1 CPU hit threshold) to "wait_retval != 0", to fix a race where multiple CPUs hit the threshold at the same time. That also made it incorrectly include a signal (< 0), coming from either duration expired (SIGALRM) or user interrupt (SIGINT). Check for wait_retval greater than zero in the if condition to cover all return values correctly. 2026-07-21KVM: selftests: sev_init2_tests: Derive SEV availability from KVMDavid Woodhouse
The test asserted that the X86_FEATURE_SEV CPUID bit exactly matches whether KVM offers KVM_X86_SEV_VM. That is not an invariant: when all SEV ASIDs are assigned to SEV-SNP, KVM does not offer the SEV VM type even though CPUID reports SEV, so the test aborts on an SNP-only host. Derive SEV availability from KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES (as already done for SEV-ES and SNP), assert only the one-way implication that a type offered by KVM is also reported in CPUID, and TEST_REQUIRE() the SEV VM type so the test skips cleanly when it is unavailable. 2026-07-21KVM: selftests: sev_smoke_test: Only run VM types the host offersDavid Woodhouse
sev_smoke_test ran the plain SEV subtest unconditionally, gated only on the X86_FEATURE_SEV CPUID bit, while gating SEV-ES and SNP on the KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES bits. CPUID reporting SEV does not mean KVM offers the SEV VM type: when all SEV ASIDs are assigned to SEV-SNP, KVM_X86_SEV_VM is unavailable even though X86_FEATURE_SEV is set. On such a host the test aborts in KVM_CREATE_VM instead of exercising the available modes. Gate the SEV subtest on KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES like the others, so the test runs the VM types the host actually offers. 2026-07-21vsock/test: add test for small packets under pressureStefano Garzarella
Add a test that sends 2 MB of data using randomly sized small packets (129-512 bytes) over a SOCK_STREAM connection. Packets above GOOD_COPY_LEN (128) bypass the in-place coalescing in recv_enqueue(), forcing each one into its own skb. Without receive queue collapsing, the per-skb overhead eventually exceeds buf_alloc and the connection is reset. The test verifies that all data arrives and that content integrity is preserved. 2026-07-21selftests: net: add FOU multicast encapsulation resubmit testAnton Danilov
Add a selftest to verify that FOU-encapsulated packets addressed to a multicast destination are correctly resubmitted to the inner protocol handler (GRE) via the UDP multicast delivery path. Both IPv4 and IPv6 paths are tested. The test creates two network namespaces connected by a veth pair with a FOU/GRETAP (IPv4) and FOU/ip6gretap (IPv6) tunnel using multicast remote addresses (239.0.0.1 and ff0e::1). Ping is sent through each tunnel and received packets are counted on the receiver's tunnel interface. The veth pair is created directly inside the namespaces to avoid possible name collisions with devices in the root namespace. Static neighbor entries are configured on the sender because ARP/ND replies from the receiver cannot traverse the unidirectional multicast tunnel back to the sender. The early demux optimization (net.ipv4.ip_early_demux, which controls both IPv4 and IPv6) is disabled on the receiver to force packets through __udp4_lib_mcast_deliver() / __udp6_lib_mcast_deliver(), which is the code path being tested. 2026-07-20selftests/net: Fix tun IPv6 test addresses to avoid 6to4 rangeRicardo B. Marlière
The IPv6 addresses used for the tun_vnet_udptnl fixture currently fall in the 2002::/16 prefix, which is reserved for the 6to4 transition mechanism (RFC 3056). On systems where the sit module is loaded, the kernel automatically claims 2002::/16 as a 6to4 tunnel prefix. When the test assigns a 2002:: address to a TUN interface, sit registers a competing local route for the same address. This ambiguity breaks the GENEVE decapsulation path: packets injected via the TUN fd are not delivered to the test socket, causing the IPv6-outer gtgso send_gso_packet variants to fail. Replace all four IPv6 test addresses with addresses from the fd00:db8::/32 range, which is part of the ULA space (fc00::/7, RFC 4193) and carries no special kernel semantics. 2026-07-20fs/proc/task_mmu: fix PAGEMAP_SCAN written state for unpopulated ptesKiryl Shutsemau (Meta)
PAGEMAP_SCAN reports an unpopulated pte differently depending on which path serves the request. The PAGE_IS_WRITTEN fast path in pagemap_scan_pmd_entry() reports a pte_none as written (and, under PM_SCAN_WP_MATCHING, arms a marker); pagemap_page_category() returns 0 for the same pte_none. A request that cannot take the fast path (an extra category bit, category_anyof_mask or category_inverted) therefore reports the pte as clean and skips arming it. A range that was populated and then MADV_DONTNEED'd reads as written via one mask and clean via another, and in the latter case is not re-armed for the next round -- an incremental-dump consumer (e.g. CRIU) using a richer mask drops the zapped range and stops tracking writes to it. Report pte_none as written in pagemap_page_category() too. A pte_none carries no uffd-wp marker, i.e. it is not write-protected -- the same condition under which the present and swap cases already report PAGE_IS_WRITTEN. The fast path applies no VMA test, so neither does this. The hugetlb and fully-unpopulated-PMD (no page table) scans have no PAGE_IS_WRITTEN fast path, so they do not exhibit the per-entry divergence and are left unchanged. Add a pagemap_ioctl selftest that populates a range, drops it with MADV_DONTNEED, and checks that the fast path and the generic (category_anyof_mask) path both report every page written. 2026-07-20selftests/futex: Give circular-list nodes static storageMiles Krause
The registered robust-list head has static storage but points at three automatic lock nodes. GCC warns about storing the address of a local variable in the static head when building the selftest with -Wall. Give the nodes static storage as well. This keeps every object in the circular list alive through child exit without changing the list topology. When both 'host' and 'vpnip' are non-NULL, the first getaddrinfo() allocation is leaked because 'result' is overwritten by the second getaddrinfo() call without freeing the first allocation. 2. When both 'host' and 'vpnip' are NULL, 'result' is an uninitialized stack variable passed to freeaddrinfo(), which is undefined behavior. To make the scripts robust, the parser should be implemented based on the dot language specification, not based on how the existing dot files look. As a first step, use Lark to implement a Parser based on the graphviz dot language specification. The resulting parse tree is not used yet, but the existing scripts will be converted one by one to use this new parse tree in the follow-up commits. 2026-07-19sched_ext: Rename the cid-form cgroup ops to cpuctl_*Tejun Heo
Two unrelated things go by "cgroup" in the cid form. Sub-schedulers attach to cgroups, and the cgroup_*() ops deliver cpu controller events. While the ops names suggest cgroup2 hierarchy, they actually operate on the cpu controller. Rename them to cpuctl_* in struct sched_ext_ops_cid, which has no users outside scx_qmap yet. The cpu form is deployed ABI and keeps the old names. The layout is unchanged and the kernel keeps calling through the cpu-form union view. The clears dereference cpu-form member names and compile for cid-form skeletons only because both ops structs currently name their cgroup ops identically, which an upcoming rename will end. No load-time fix-up can apply to a cid-form scheduler anyway as the cid form postdates every compat-gated op. Factor the skeleton open path out of SCX_OPS_OPEN() and add SCX_OPS_CID_OPEN() which uses only that shared part. Switch scx_qmap, the only cid-form scheduler, over. Add -J init-fail which makes ops.init_task() fail with -ENOMEM for tasks whose comm starts with "qmfail", and -J cgrp-init-fail which does the same in ops.cgroup_init() for cgroups named "qmfail*". The former exercises the migration veto path: the cgroup.procs write must fail with the injected errno while the destination sched stays up and the task stays put. The latter exercises the ownership-return failure path: a parent failing to re-init a returned cgroup leaves it unowned, and moves and set_* ops against it must be skipped instead of dereferencing the missing owner. 2026-07-19tools/sched_ext: scx_qmap - Consume cgroup weights through set_weightTejun Heo
With the set_* ops delivered to the parent's sched, a parent qmap instance now receives cgroup_set_weight for its child subs' attach points. Update the matching sub_sched_ctx weight and redistribute() in-kernel, and drop the userspace feed_weights() polling. This exercises the knob routing end to end. The self weight is fixed at 100: a cgroup's weight is its parent's knob and not the scheduler's own business. This drops the self-weight polling and the repartition PROG_RUN poke with it. sub_attach seeds the slot with the cgroup's current weight, read through bpf_cgroup_from_id(), so a weight set before the sub attaches is picked up. A write racing the attach can still be lost until the next value-changing cpu.weight write. Acceptable for a demo. While at it, add a traced ops.cgroup_move() so tests can observe move delivery. 2026-07-19perf stat: Add --hide-zero-events option to suppress zero-count eventsAaron Tomlin
When monitoring a large number of events (e.g., with wildcards such as --event 'syscalls:sys_enter_*'), many matched events will return a count of zero. This clutters the output, making it difficult to spot the active events. Add a new option --hide-zero-events to suppress printing events that have a count of zero. To prevent formatting and diagnostic issues, the zero-skipping logic implements the following rules: 1. In metric-only mode (i.e., --metric-only), columns must remain aligned in the output grid. We evaluate config->metric_only first to avoid skipping zero-valued columns, preventing values from shifting left and aligning under incorrect headers 2. For explicitly requested events, we ensure they are not silently hidden if they are unsupported. 2026-07-19selftests/bpf: Run arena tests seriallyJiayuan Chen
Every arena reserves a 4GB kernel vmalloc region at creation, and on a KASAN build that eagerly populates ~512MB of shadow memory per arena. When several arena tests run in parallel their shadow adds up, exhausts the memory of a small CI VM and trips the OOM killer during map creation. Make the dedicated arena tests (arena_* and libarena*) serial so they no longer pile up in the parallel phase. That alone brings the peak number of live arenas back within the CI memory budget. A few other tests such as verifier_arena*, stream and compute_live_registers create an arena too, but they run inside shared RUN_TESTS()/RUN() suites, so turning them serial would drag many unrelated subtests along with them. In add_script_opt(), the function unconditionally increments the optstr and act pointers for a second optional 'time' popup action before attempting to invoke add_script_opt_2(). If the first add_script_opt_2() call failed (for example, due to an asprintf allocation failure), this leaves a NULL pointer gap in the options array at the prior index. When ui__popup_menu() is later displayed, it dereferences this gap and crashes. Fix it by avoiding unconditional pointer increments. Only advance the optstr and act pointers if the first script addition actually succeeded, and safely attach the time parameter to the correct assigned action. arch__find() In arch__find(), if the architecture's arch_new_fn[e_machine]() returns NULL, the error handling path attempts to read result->name, dereferencing a NULL pointer and crashing. At the same time, it invokes free(tmp) BEFORE updating the static global archs pointer to tmp. If the reallocarray() call moved the allocated block, the original archs pointer remained active but was freed. A subsequent call to arch__find() would then pass this dangling pointer into bsearch(), causing a use-after-free. Fix both by printing the numeric e_machine ID instead of result->name, and updating the static global archs pointer to tmp immediately after the successful reallocarray() invocation to safely retain the valid prior architectures.
