Pull kvm updates from Paolo Bonzini:
"ARM64:
- Add support for 'slot' based PMU events, paired with new UAPI that
compels the user to select a specific PMU implementation
- Lazy save/restore of vCPU state for pKVM, along with various fixes
and cleanups to the management of vCPU state between the untrusted
host and pKVM hypervisor
- Disable traps of EL1 registers for nested hypervisors when
FEAT_NV2p1 is present, guaranteeing that EL2-specific register bits
are stateful in the EL1 counterpart
- Leverage FEAT_NV3 to avoid unnecessary ERET/TLBI traps when the
scope of those instructions remains 'in host' (i.e. L1
kernel/userspace)
- Pile of fixes for the management of the VNCR pseudo-TLB, such as
under-invalidations and races with concurrent TLBIs on other vCPUs

- Split kvm_mmu in three parts, respectively to describe the format
of page tables, walking the guest page tables and building the page
tables. Always use the same page table walker kvm->arch.gva_walk as
the entry point to convert a guest's virtual address, where the
previous code used two different kvm_mmu structs depending on
whether the walk included nested EPT/NPT or not. Make page fault
vmexits reuse the permission checking machinery that is used for
guest page faults. This is both a cleanup and a baby step towards
supporting XS/XU memory permissions
- Document some of the "fun" gotchas with the APIC base when creating
IRQCHIPs on x86
- Remove a defunct masterclock update from kvm_xen_shared_info_init().
It could result in incorrect kvmclock due to triggering an
unnecessary switch to/from masterclock mode
- Skip Xen runstate time updates if time has effectively gone
backwards, so that the guest doesn't report 100% steal time for
a very, very long time
- Drop KVM's runtime updates of the Xen PV timing CPUID leaf, as KVM
was updating the wrong sub-leaf, and upstream KVM will soon provide
all the information needed by userspace to populate the CPUID field
itself
- Fix a bug where KVM would walk a newly created rmap without holding
the rmap lock (or mmu_lock) during aging

where KVM could miss a TLB on a future, successful VM-Enter with

- Cap the maximum value shoved into the VMX Preemption Timer to
workaround an erratum that affects all existing Intel CPUs that
support CPUID 0x15
- Fix VPID virtualization bugs where KVM would fail to flush hardware
TLBs
- Harden the TDX "populate" ioctls against bad input, and to prepare
for supporting in-place private<=>shared conversion
x86 (AMD):
- Forcefully invalidate SNP VMSA pages if their backing guest_memfd
page is zapped/invalidated, e.g. due to a PUNCH_HOLE in response to
a Page-State Change request
- Remove a dying VM from the GA Log notifier list before the VM is
actually destroyed, to fix a potential use-after-free
- While FOLL_WRITE was needed in the past to trigger CoW unsharing,
nowadays FOLL_LONGTERM does that already even without FOLL_WRITE,
and in fact, get_user_pages() actually disallows FOLL_WRITE
together with FOLL_LONGTERM. So don't pass FOLL_WRITE when
registering encrypted memory regions, i.e. when pinning SEV/SEV-ES
guest memory, to fix a regression with file-backed memory
introduced by KVM's (correct) usage of long-term pins
(This was reviewed by mm maintainers; for more information, see
commit ee1a586dd1fa "KVM: SEV: Drop FOLL_WRITE for encrypted region
registration")
- Allocate full pages for SEV/SEV-ES {DE,EN}CRYPT ops on SNP-enabled
hosts to fix a data corruption issue due to the PSP driver
assigning to-be-written pages to firmware (as required by the SNP
specs)
- Unconditionally intercept ICBEP so that KVM generates the correct
guest RIP when handling an ICEBP-induced TASK_SWITCH #VMEXIT
- Harden the SNP "populate" ioctls against bad input, and to prepare
for supporting in-place private<=>shared conversion
Generic:
- Remove kvm_debugfs_dir if kvm_init() fails after creating KVM's
debugfs
- Add a per-VM bitmap to track which vCPU IDs have been "claimed" but
for which the vCPU isn't yet online, and use the bitmap to reject
duplicate IDs before calling into arch code. This allows arch code
to consume vcpu_id without having to worry about cross-vCPU
clobbering (at least s390 and x86 have had related bugs)
- Rework the so called "prepare" and "invalidate" guest_memfd hooks
to prepare for in-place private<=>shared conversion, and clean up a
few warts along the way
Selftests:
- Automatically allocate a full page for L2 guest stacks on x86
instead of requiring test-specific L1 guest code to carve out a
portion of the L1 stack for L2 usage, and to ensure the L2 stack
also adheres to the x86-64 calling convention ABI
- Add a selftest to verify {Guest,Host}-Only behavior in x86's
mediated PMU
- Clean up nested SVM's handling of GPRs on L2<=>L1 transitions,
reuse the functionality for nested VMX, and drop the ucall hack
that was fudging around the lack of GPR switching on nVMX
- Add a stress test to verify KVM doesn't clobber/drop #PF state,
e.g. CR2, across save/restore, including when L2 is active
- Add a test to verify KVM_CREATE_VM accepts exactly what is reported
by KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES
- Misc selftests fixes and cleanups
- Fix several issues with seeding the pRNG, and rework the pRNG APIs
to that the pRNG can be sanely used in host code, not just guest
code
- Add an IRQ test to validate virtual IRQ deliverty for IRQs wired up
via KVM_IRQFD + KVM_SET_GSI_ROUTING, with optional support for
triggering IRQs via writes to an assigned VFIO device
- Add syscall wrappers to assert success on a variety of pthreads and
CPU affinity APIs
- Set vCPU pthread affinity as early as possible to reduce contention
issues that were surfaced by PREEMPT_LAZY, which result in runtimes
of over a minute on large hosts, versus the expected ~5 seconds
- Rework the PMU counters test to run each testcase using a single VM
with many vCPUs for each sub-testcase, instead of using a unique VM
for each sub-testcase. This cuts the runtime by ~20x

functions with type information. These are constants that can be referenced

Pass the symbol symbol name which corresponds to a relocation to
do_relocs(). This is preparation for kCFI support.
Given that the s390 specific relocs tool is a stripped down version of the
x86 version, add more code from the x86 version to the s390 version, while
keeping coding style, etc. in order to add the required functionality.

Some facilities have been put into FACILITIES_KVM_CPUMODEL to be on the
safe side with older VMMs. Unfortunately this has some unwanted side
effects for VMMs without a CPU model (like kvm unit test) and IBC/VAL is
not used in that case.
Ideally the guest visible STFLE bits, the behaviour when running
interpreted (HW supported) and the behaviour when running emulated (kvm
or qemu) should be in sync.
For LPSWEY this was not the case. STFLE.193 was off, but interpretion
did work, emulation did not. As emulation only happened in rare cases
(e.g. deliver a machine check) the result was inconsistency for the
guest.
Move beareh to FACILITIES_KVM to fix the inconsistency.
NNPA (facility 165) has no fencing and no KVM emulation. The instruction
will work, despite STFLE.165 being off in the guest. Move also to
FACILITIES_KVM.
Facility 170 (ineffective-nonconstrained-transaction facility) is an
anti facility and should be passed along as well as KVM cannot simulate
the missing function.
KVM also does not implement trapping for guest RDP and there is no
additional hypervisor control. Move 194 to FACILITIES_KVM as well.
Facilities 196 and 197 (PAI) also do not have a hypervisor control and
need to be passed on as well.
The PFCR is also not intercepted by KVM and needs to be moved (stfle.201).
The other facilities are fine (stfle, emulation, interpretion in sync):
Both AP related features (12 and 15) require a userspace added AP via vfio.
156 etoken facility is fenced off for interpretion via ECD_ETOKENF so
everything is in sync

Add the Dat-Enhancement facility 1 to the list of facilities which are
required to start the kernel. The facility provides the CSPG and IDTE
instructions. In particular the CSPG instruction can be used to replace a
valid page table entry with a different page table entry, which also
differs in the page frame real address.
Without the CSPG instruction it is possible to use the CSP instruction to
change valid page table entries, however it only allows to change the lower
or higher 32 bits of such entries, which means it cannot be used to change
the page frame real address of valid page table entries.
Given that there is code around (e.g. HugeTLB vmemmap optimization) which
requires to change valid page table entries of the kernel mapping, without
the detour over an invalid page table entry, make the CSPG instruction
unconditionally available.
The Dat-Enhancement facility 1 is available since z990, which is older than
the currently supported minimum architecture (z10). Therefore adding this
to the architecture level set shouldn't cause any problems.

The in-kernel disassembler intentionally uses nun-null terminated
strings in order to keep the arrays which contain mnemonics as small
as possible. GCC 15 however warns about this:

kprobes if sequential instruction fetching facility is available

Over the course of CPU generations a few instructions got extended,
changing their base mnemonic, while keeping the former as an extended
mnemonic. Update the instruction mnemonics in the disassembler to their
latest base mnemonic as documented in the latest IBM z/Architecture
Principles of Operation specification [1].
With the IBM z14 the base mnemonics of the following vector instructions
have been changed:
- Vector FP Load Lengthened (VFLL)
- Vector FP Load Rounded (VFLR)
With Message-Security-Assist Extension 5 Perform Pseudorandom Number
Operation (PPNO) has been renamed to Perform Random Number Operation
(PRNO).
With Vector Enhancements Facility 2 the base mnemonics of the following
vector instructions have been changed:
- Vector FP Convert from Fixed (VCFPS)
- Vector FP Convert from Logical (VCFPL)
- Vector FP Convert to Fixed (VCSFP)
- Vector FP Convert to Logical (VCLFP)

Symbol offsets to the KASLR base do not match symbol address in
the vmlinux image. That is the result of setting the KASLR base
to the beginning of .text section as result of an optimization.
Revert that optimization and allocate virtual memory for the
whole kernel image including __START_KERNEL bytes as per the
linker script. That allows keeping the semantics of the KASLR
base offset in sync with other architectures.
Rename __START_KERNEL to TEXT_OFFSET, since it represents the
offset of the .text section within the kernel image, rather than
a virtual address.
Still skip mapping TEXT_OFFSET bytes to save memory on pgtables
and provoke exceptions in case an attempt to access this area is
made, as no kernel symbol may reside there.
In case CONFIG_KASAN is enabled the location counter might exceed
the value of TEXT_OFFSET, while the decompressor linker script
forcefully resets it to TEXT_OFFSET, which leads to a sections
overlap link failure. Use MAX() expression to avoid that.

Rework deployment of kernel image for both compressed and
uncompressed variants as defined by CONFIG_KERNEL_UNCOMPRESSED
kernel configuration variable.
In case CONFIG_KERNEL_UNCOMPRESSED is disabled avoid uncompressing
the kernel to a temporary buffer and copying it to the target
address. Instead, uncompress it directly to the target destination.
In case CONFIG_KERNEL_UNCOMPRESSED is enabled avoid moving the
kernel to default 0x100000 location when KASLR is disabled or
failed. Instead, use the uncompressed kernel image directly.
In case KASLR is disabled or failed .amode31 section location in
memory is not randomized and precedes the kernel image. In case
CONFIG_KERNEL_UNCOMPRESSED is disabled that location overlaps the
area used by the decompression algorithm. That is fine, since that
area is not used after the decompression finished and the size of
.amode31 section is not expected to exceed BOOT_HEAP_SIZE ever.
There is no decompression in case CONFIG_KERNEL_UNCOMPRESSED is
enabled. Therefore, rename decompress_kernel() to deploy_kernel(),
which better describes both uncompressed and compressed cases.
Introduce AMODE31_SIZE macro to avoid immediate value of 0x3000
(the size of .amode31 section) in the decompressor linker script.
Modify the vmlinux linker script to force the size of .amode31
section to AMODE31_SIZE (the value of (_eamode31 - _samode31)
could otherwise differ as result of compiler options used).
Introduce __START_KERNEL macro that defines the kernel ELF image
entry point and set it to the currrent value of 0x100000.

Since kernel virtual and physical address spaces are
uncoupled the kernel is mapped at the top of the virtual
address space in case KASLR is disabled.
That does not pose any issue with regard to the kernel
booting and operation, but makes it difficult to use a
generated vmlinux with some debugging tools (e.g. gdb),
because the exact location of the kernel image in virtual
memory is unknown. Make that location known and introduce
CONFIG_KERNEL_IMAGE_BASE configuration option.
A custom CONFIG_KERNEL_IMAGE_BASE value that would break
the virtual memory layout leads to a build error.
The kernel image size is defined by KERNEL_IMAGE_SIZE
macro and set to 512 MB, by analogy with x86.

lkp test robot reported unhandled relocation type: R_390_GOTPCDBL, when
kernel is built with -fno-PIE. relocs tool reads vmlinux and handles
absolute relocations. PC relative relocs doesn't need adjustment.
Also, the R_390_GOTPCDBL/R_390_GOTOFF64 relocations are present
currently only when KASAN is enabled.
The following program can create a R_390_GOTPCDBL/R_390_GOTOFF64 reloc
(with fPIE/fPIC).

This 'relocs' tool is copied from the x86 version, ported for s390, and
greatly simplified to remove unnecessary features.
It reads vmlinux and outputs assembly to create a .vmlinux.relocs_64
section which contains the offsets of all R_390_64 relocations which
apply to allocatable sections.

Add the vector facility to the z13 architecture level set (ALS). All
hypervisors support the vector facility since many years.
Adding the facility to the ALS allows for compile time optimizations of the
kernel: if the kernel is compiled for z13 or later, all tests which verify
if the vector facility is present can return "true".
This will be implemented with a subsequent patch.

Machine generations up to z9 (released in May 2006) have been officially
out of service for several years now (z9 end of service - January 31, 2019).
No distributions build kernels supporting those old machine generations
anymore, except Debian, which seems to pick the oldest supported
generation. The team supporting Debian on s390 has been notified about
the change.
Raising minimum supported machine generation to z10 helps to reduce
maintenance cost and effectively remove code, which is not getting
enough testing coverage due to lack of older hardware and distributions
support. Besides that this unblocks some optimization opportunities and
allows to use wider instruction set in asm files for future features
implementation. Due to this change spectre mitigation and usercopy
implementations could be drastically simplified and many newer instructions
could be converted from ".insn" encoding to instruction names.

Currently with -mindirect-branch=thunk and -mfunction-return=thunk compiler
options expoline thunks are put into individual COMDAT group sections. s390
is the only architecture which has group sections and it has implications
for kpatch and objtool tools support.
Using -mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and -mfunction-return=thunk-extern
is an alternative, which comes with a need to generate all required
expoline thunks manually. Unfortunately modules area is too far away from
the kernel image, and expolines from the kernel image cannon be used.
But since all new distributions (except Debian) build kernels for machine
generations newer than z10, where "exrl" instruction is available, that
leaves only 16 expolines thunks possible.
Provide an option to build the kernel with
-mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and -mfunction-return=thunk-extern for
z10 or newer. This also requires to postlink expoline thunks into all
modules explicitly. Currently modules already contain most expolines
anyhow.
Unfortunately -mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and
-mfunction-return=thunk-extern options support is broken in gcc <= 11.2.
Additional compile test is required to verify proper gcc support.

In old days, the "host-progs" syntax was used for specifying host
programs. It was renamed to the current "hostprogs-y" in 2004.
It is typically useful in scripts/Makefile because it allows Kbuild to
selectively compile host programs based on the kernel configuration.
This commit renames like follows:
always -> always-y
hostprogs-y -> hostprogs
So, scripts/Makefile will look like this:
always-$(CONFIG_BUILD_BIN2C) += ...
always-$(CONFIG_KALLSYMS) += ...
...
hostprogs := $(always-y) $(always-m)
I think this makes more sense because a host program is always a host
program, irrespective of the kernel configuration. We want to specify
which ones to compile by CONFIG options, so always-y will be handier.
The "always", "hostprogs-y", "hostprogs-m" will be kept for backward
compatibility for a while.

Add detection for machine types 0x8562 and 8x8561 and set the ELF platform
name to z15. Add the miscellaneous-instruction-extension 3 facility to
the list of facilities for z15.
And allow to generate code that only runs on a z15 machine.

'targets' should be specified to include .*.cmd files to evaluate
if_changed or friends.
Here, facility-defs.h and dis-defs.h are generated by filechk.
Because filechk does not generate .*.cmd file, the 'targets' addition
is meaningless. The filechk correctly updates the target when its
content is changed.

The top level Makefile adds -Wall globally for all host tools:
KBUILD_HOSTCFLAGS := -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 \
I see two "-Wall" added for compiling these tools.
Of course, it is allowed to pass the same option multiple times, but
we do not need to do so.

I guess HOSTCFLAGS_gen_opcode_table.o was blindly copied from
HOSTCFLAGS_gen_facilities.o
The reason of adding $(LINUXINCLUDE) to HOSTCFLAGS_gen_facilities.o
is because gen_facilities.c references some CONFIG options. (Kbuild
does not cater to this for host tools automatically.)
On the other hand, gen_opcode_table.c does not reference CONFIG
options at all. So, there is no good reason to pass $(LINUXINCLUDE).

You do not have to use define ... endef for filechk_* rules.
For simple cases, the use of assignment looks cleaner, IMHO.
I updated the usage for scripts/Kbuild.include in case somebody
misunderstands the 'define ... endif' is the requirement.

filechk_* rules often consist of multiple 'echo' lines. They must be
surrounded with { } or ( ) to work correctly. Otherwise, only the
string from the last 'echo' would be written into the target.
Let's take care of that in the 'filechk' in scripts/Kbuild.include
to clean up filechk_* rules.

Introduces two new CPU model facilities to support
AP virtualization for KVM guests:
1. AP Query Configuration Information (QCI) facility is installed.
This is indicated by setting facilities bit 12 for
the guest. The kernel will not enable this facility
for the guest if it is not set on the host.
If this facility is not set for the KVM guest, then only
APQNs with an APQI less than 16 will be used by a Linux
guest regardless of the matrix configuration for the virtual
machine. This is a limitation of the Linux AP bus.
2. AP Facilities Test facility (APFT) is installed.
This is indicated by setting facilities bit 15 for
the guest. The kernel will not enable this facility for
the guest if it is not set on the host.
If this facility is not set for the KVM guest, then no
AP devices will be available to the guest regardless of
the guest's matrix configuration for the virtual
machine. This is a limitation of the Linux AP bus.

We want to provide facility 156 (etoken facility) to our
guests. This includes migration support (via sync regs) and
VSIE changes. The tokens are being reset on clear reset. This
has to be implemented by userspace (via sync regs).

Some facilities should only be provided to the guest, if they are
enabled by a CPU model. This allows us to avoid capabilities and
to simply fall back to the cpumodel for deciding about a facility
without enabling it for older QEMUs or QEMUs without a CPU
model.

Previously, the generated dis.h and facilities.h header files have been
stored in include/generated. Because they are s390 specific, store them
in the arch/s390/include/generated/asm/ directory. Also update
references to the header files respectively.
To prevent name collisions with those header files in asm/ that
include the generated ones, rename the generated headers files
and add an -defs suffix. Also update the generators to create
the ifdef guards respectively.
