Add i3c_master_has_wakeup_enabled_devs(), which iterates over the devices
on an I3C bus and reports whether any of them are enabled for system
wakeup and have IBI enabled.
Controller drivers can use this helper to determine whether wakeup
support must remain available while the system is suspended.

An I3C device configured as a wakeup source can wake the system by
generating an In-Band Interrupt (IBI).
When an IBI is queued for processing, record a wakeup event for the
device if wakeup is enabled. Use a 100 ms processing interval to give
the I3C device driver time to process the IBI.

An I3C controller acts as a bus controller for one or more I3C devices.
If the controller can wake the system in response to an In-Band
Interrupt (IBI), then any device on that bus that is capable of
generating IBIs can potentially be used as a wakeup source.
Add an ibi_wakeup flag to struct i3c_master_controller so controller
drivers can advertise support for IBI-based wakeup.
If set, mark IBI-capable I3C devices as wakeup capable when they are
registered, allowing wakeup management through the standard device
wakeup framework.

i3c_device_match() dereferences i3cdev->desc without holding the bus
normal-use lock. Since the descriptor pointer can be replaced
concurrently, the dereference can race with descriptor replacement and
result in a use-after-free.
Protect access to i3cdev->desc with the normal-use lock. While the lock
is held, the descriptor is guaranteed to remain valid, so the NULL check
is also unnecessary and can be removed.
This change depends on "i3c: master: Fix recursive locking during device
registration". Prior to that change, taking the normal-use lock in
i3c_device_match() could recurse on bus->lock during device
registration.

i3c_device_uevent() dereferences i3cdev->desc without holding the bus
normal-use lock. Since the descriptor pointer can be replaced
concurrently, including when a uevent is generated from sysfs, this can
result in dereferencing a stale descriptor and lead to a use-after-free.
Use i3c_device_get_info() instead, which protects access to the
descriptor with the normal-use lock.
Commit 6cf7b65f7029 ("i3c: Use i3cdev->desc->info instead of calling
i3c_device_get_info() to avoid deadlock") replaced the accessor with a
direct descriptor dereference because i3c_device_get_info() would
recursively acquire bus->lock during device registration.
This change depends on "i3c: master: Fix recursive locking during device
registration", which moves device registration out from under bus->lock
and removes the possibility of that deadlock. Without that change,
restoring the i3c_device_get_info() call would reintroduce the deadlock.

sysfs attribute callbacks for the master controller device dereference
master->this. However, master->this is freed in
i3c_master_detach_free_devs() before the master device itself is
released.
As a result, sysfs accesses can dereference a freed master->this
pointer, leading to a use-after-free.
Keep master->this alive until i3c_masterdev_release(), which is called
after the master device and its sysfs state are being torn down. Do not
free master->this as part of the normal device detach path.
On the error path in i3c_master_set_info(), reset master->this and

i3c_device_get_supported_xfer_mode()
i3c_device_get_supported_xfer_mode() uses dev->desc to obtain the
master controller. However, dev->desc must not be dereferenced unless
bus->lock is held, and this function does not take that lock.
The function only needs access to the master controller associated with

i3c_master_register_new_i3c_devs() registers newly discovered devices
while holding i3c_bus_normaluse_lock(), a down_read(). device_register()
can immediately probe the device, and probe callbacks typically invoke
I3C helpers that take i3c_bus_normaluse_lock() again, leading to a
recursive acquisition of the same rwsem. rwsems do not support recursive
read locking and can deadlock when a writer is waiting. See the
"Recursive read locks" section of Documentation/locking/lockdep-design.rst.
For example, with Intel LPSS I3C, LOCKDEP generates a WARNING like:
# echo intel-lpss-i3c.0 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/mipi-i3c-hci/unbind
# echo intel-lpss-i3c.0 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/mipi-i3c-hci/bind
WARNING: possible recursive locking detected
kworker/5:1/94 is trying to acquire lock:
ffff88811c810d78 (&i3cbus->lock){++++}-{4:4}, at: i3c_device_match_id+0x45/0x370
but task is already holding lock:
ffff88811c810d78 (&i3cbus->lock){++++}-{4:4}, at: i3c_master_reg_work_fn+0x21/0x5f0
Fix this by separating device creation from device registration.
Populate desc->dev under the maintenance lock, collect the devices that
still need registration into a local list, then release the lock before
calling device_register(). Finally retake the lock and clean up any
devices that failed to register.
Use the maintenance lock rather than the normal-use lock while adding
device objects. A write-side maintenance lock prevents readers from
observing a partially initialized desc->dev during initial device
population, or desc->dev disappearing if registration fails.
The local list requires a list node, so add a list node member to struct
i3c_device.

Add support for devices using SETAASA, such as SPD5118 and SPD5108
attached to DDR5 memory modules that do not support ENTDAA. Follow the
guidelines proposed by the MIPI Discovery and Configuration
Specification [1] for discovering such devices.
SETAASA (Set All Addresses to Static Address) differs from standard I3C
address assignment that uses ENTDAA or SETDASA to assign dynamic
addresses. Devices using SETAASA assign their pre-defined static addresses
as their dynamic addresses during DAA, and it is not mandatory for these
devices to implement standard CCC commands like GETPID, GETDCR, or GETBCR.
For such devices, it is generally recommended to issue SETHID (specified
by JEDEC JESD300) as a prerequisite for SETAASA to stop HID bit flipping.

Although the existing subsystem allows host controllers to register
through the ACPI table, it was not possible to describe I3C or I2C
devices when using ACPI. This is because the driver relied on the reg
property to retrieve the PID, static address, etc., whereas ACPI uses
_ADR or serial resources to describe such devices.
Read _ADR and LVR from ACPI resources and extract the data as per the
ACPI specification for an I3C bus. Also read mipi-i3c-static-address as
per the MIPI DISCO specifications [1] to get the static address to be
used.
Enable describing I3C or I2C devices in the ACPI table. This is required
if the device uses a static address or if it needs device-specific
properties.

i3c_master_unregister_i3c_devs() clears i3cdev->dev->desc before
calling device_unregister(). During device_unregister(),
device_del() emits a KOBJ_REMOVE uevent and unbinds the driver while
the device descriptor is still expected to be valid. As a result,
i3c_device_uevent() and a racing modalias_show() can observe a NULL
desc and fall back to an uninitialized stack struct i3c_device_info,
leaking kernel stack contents in the generated modalias. Driver
.remove() callbacks may also encounter an unexpected NULL desc during
unbind.
Keep desc valid until device_unregister() has completed. Since
device_unregister() drops the device reference and may free the device,
take an extra reference with get_device() before unregistering. Clear
desc afterwards and release the extra reference with put_device().
This preserves the release-time invariant that desc must be NULL while
avoiding both the information leak and a potential use-after-free from
writing desc after the device has been released.

When device_register() fails in i3c_master_register_new_i3c_devs(),
put_device() is called to drop the reference taken by
device_register(). That drops the last reference, so the device's
release callback i3c_device_release() runs and frees the i3c_device.
Two problems follow from that:
i3c_device_release() does WARN_ON(i3cdev->desc), so it warns because
desc->dev->desc still points back at the descriptor. Clear it before
calling put_device().
After put_device() frees the i3c_device, desc->dev is left pointing at
freed memory, so clear desc->dev as well. That prevents, for example,
i3c_master_unregister_i3c_devs() seeing desc->dev as non-NULL and
dereferencing it.

After Dynamic Address Assignment (DAA), there may be cases where
devices have been assigned dynamic addresses on the bus, but are not
successfully registered in the device model. This can happen, for
example, if errors occur during device addition, leaving the bus state
and software state inconsistent.
Introduce a reconciliation step to resolve such inconsistencies.
Scan all address slots marked as I3C devices by the bus, and compare
them against the set of devices currently registered. For any dynamic
address that is marked occupied but has no corresponding i3c_dev_desc,
probe for device presence using a GETSTATUS CCC.
Retry the probe (with exponential backoff delay) to handle transient NACK
conditions. If a device responds, register it via
i3c_master_add_i3c_dev_locked(). Otherwise, free the address
slot so it may be reused in future DAA operations.
Note, i3c_master_add_i3c_dev_locked() may fail (again), in which case the
dynamic address remains marked as occupied. A future DAA will try again.
This also handles a corner case where a device is assigned a dynamic
address but not successfully added, and subsequently loses that address
(e.g. due to power management). If DAA is run again, the device may
receive a new dynamic address while the old one remains marked as
occupied. Repeated occurrences of this scenario could eventually
exhaust the dynamic address space. The reconciliation step ensures that
stale addresses are detected and freed, preventing address leakage.

i3c_master_add_i3c_dev_locked() is called after a device has already
been assigned a dynamic address. If the function fails, the address
remains marked as free and may be reallocated to another device,
leading to address conflicts on the bus.
Ensure the address is not marked as free on failure, by updating the
address slot state to prevent the address from being re-used.
Emit an error message to inform of the failure.
Opportunistically remove the !master check because it is impossible.
Note, directly resetting the device's dynamic address is no longer
an option, since Direct RSTDAA was deprecated from I3C starting from
version 1.1 and v1.1 (or later) target devices are meant to NACK it.

The existing i3c_master_enec_locked() wrapper always treats a NACKed
ENEC CCC as a failure (M2 error). However, broadcasting ENEC to enable
Hot-Join is legitimately useful even when no I3C devices are currently
present on the bus, in which case the broadcast will be NACKed and
should not be reported as an error.
The underlying helper i3c_master_enec_disec_locked() already accepts a
suppress_m2 flag that lets callers ignore such NACKs. Expose it so that
a subsequent patch enabling Hot-Join events can issue ENEC with M2
suppression.

Master drivers may invoke i3c_master_do_daa_ext() during resume to
re-run Dynamic Address Assignment. As well as assigning addresses to
any newly arrived devices, this restores the dynamic address of devices
that lost it across system suspend, so it has to run as part of the
controller's resume path.
A side effect of i3c_master_do_daa_ext() today is that it also
registers any newly discovered I3C devices with the driver model
inline, via i3c_master_register_new_i3c_devs(). Doing that from the
resume path is problematic: a hot-join-capable device may join the bus
during this same DAA, and registering it immediately would push driver
model work (probing, sysfs, etc.) into the controller's resume context,
where the rest of the system is not yet fully resumed and the
controller driver is still partway through its own resume sequence.
Decouple discovery from registration: add a reg_work work item to
struct i3c_master_controller and have i3c_master_do_daa_ext() queue it
on master->wq (the freezable workqueue) instead of calling
i3c_master_register_new_i3c_devs() directly. The worker performs the
registration only when the controller is not shutting_down, and is
cancelled alongside hj_work in i3c_master_shutdown(). Because wq is
freezable, any newly observed devices end up being registered after
the system has finished resuming.
i3c_master_register() also routes its initial post-bus-init registration
through reg_work, using flush_work() to keep probe-time behavior
synchronous. This keeps a single registration code path and ensures the
worker is the only writer of desc->dev.

System shutdown invokes each device's bus shutdown callback to quiesce
hardware, but the I3C bus type does not currently implement one. As a
result, on shutdown the controller's Hot-Join work and any in-flight
i3c_master_do_daa() can keep running (or be newly triggered) while the
rest of the system is being torn down.
A similar window exists at i3c_master_unregister() time: cancel_work_sync()
on hj_work prevents queued work from completing, but does not stop a
fresh Hot-Join IBI from re-queueing the worker, nor a concurrent sysfs
writer from toggling Hot-Join via i3c_set_hotjoin().
Introduce a single "shutting down" gate in the I3C core, set under the
bus maintenance lock so it is observed by any in-progress DAA path
before pending work is cancelled. Install an i3c_bus_type shutdown
callback that engages this gate for master devices during system
shutdown, and use the same gate in i3c_master_unregister() so both
paths get identical guarantees.
Once the gate is engaged, the Hot-Join worker, i3c_master_do_daa_ext()
and i3c_set_hotjoin() all bail out cleanly, so Hot-Join IBIs that race
with shutdown become no-ops, direct DAA callers see -ENODEV, and sysfs
writers can no longer re-enable Hot-Join through ops->enable_hotjoin()
while the controller is going away.
No functional change for the steady-state runtime path; the new checks
only take effect once the controller has been marked as shutting down.
Note, this patch depends on patch "i3c: master: Consolidate Hot-Join DAA
work in the core".

Three master drivers (dw-i3c-master, i3c-master-cdns, svc-i3c-master)
each carry an essentially identical Hot-Join handler: a struct
work_struct embedded in their private state, a work function that just
calls i3c_master_do_daa() on the embedded i3c_master_controller, plus
matching INIT_WORK()/cancel_work_sync() boilerplate in probe/remove (and
shutdown for dw-i3c). The IBI/ISR paths then queue that work onto
master->wq, which already lives in the core.
Move this pattern into the I3C core:
- Add struct work_struct hj_work to struct i3c_master_controller and
initialise it in i3c_master_register() with a core-provided handler
i3c_master_hj_work_fn() that performs i3c_master_do_daa().
- Cancel the work in i3c_master_unregister() so all controllers get
correct teardown ordering against the workqueue for free.
- Export i3c_master_queue_hotjoin() as the single entry point drivers
call from their Hot-Join IBI handler.
Convert the three existing users to the new API: drop their private
hj_work fields, work functions, INIT_WORK() and cancel_work_sync()
calls, and replace the queue_work(master->wq, &drv->hj_work) call sites
with i3c_master_queue_hotjoin(&drv->base). The dw-i3c shutdown path
still needs to flush pending Hot-Join work before tearing down the
hardware, so it is updated to cancel master->base.hj_work directly.
No functional change intended: the work is still queued on the same
master->wq, runs the same i3c_master_do_daa(), and is cancelled at
controller teardown. Future Hot-Join improvements now only need to
be made in one place.

i3c_set_hotjoin() dispatches the controller's enable_hotjoin() or
disable_hotjoin() op and updates master->hotjoin under
i3c_bus_normaluse_lock(). That lock is a read-side acquisition of
bus->lock (down_read()), so it does not exclude concurrent callers.
The hotjoin sysfs attribute can be opened multiple times, and writes
through different opens are not serialized. Two concurrent writers
to "hotjoin" can therefore race in i3c_set_hotjoin(), with the
controller op and the master->hotjoin store from one call interleaving
with the other. The hardware enable/disable state and the value reported
by hotjoin_show() can end up out of sync.
Take i3c_bus_maintenance_lock() instead. Toggling Hot Join enable
changes bus state and is conceptually a maintenance operation, so the
write-side acquisition of bus->lock is the appropriate lock and
serializes concurrent callers against each other and against other
maintenance operations.

The I3C master workqueue (master->wq) is used to defer work that needs
thread context and the bus maintenance lock, most notably Hot Join
processing (which calls i3c_master_do_daa() to assign dynamic addresses
to newly joined devices).
Currently the workqueue keeps running across system suspend, which can
race with the suspend path:
- do_daa() may execute after the controller has been suspended,
issuing bus transactions on a powered-down or otherwise unusable
controller.
- New I3C devices can be enumerated and added to the bus mid-suspend,
registering driver model objects at a point where the I3C subsystem
and its consumers are not prepared to handle them.
Mark the workqueue WQ_FREEZABLE so its workers are frozen for the
duration of system suspend/hibernate and resumed afterwards. This
naturally defers any pending or newly queued Hot Join work until the
system (and the controller) is fully resumed, closing both races
without adding explicit suspend/resume synchronization in the master
drivers.
Update the kerneldoc for struct i3c_master_controller::wq to reflect
that the workqueue is freezable.

i3c_master_send_ccc_cmd_locked() would propagate cmd->err (positive,
Mx codes) to the ret variable, cascading down multiple methods until
reaching methods that explicitly stated they would return 0 on success
or negative error code. For example, the call chain:
i3c_device_enable_ibi <- i3c_dev_enable_ibi_locked <-
master->ops.enable_ibi <- i3c_master_enec_locked <-
i3c_master_enec_disec_locked <- i3c_master_send_ccc_cmd_locked
Fix this by returning the ret value, callers can still read the cmd->err
value if ret is negative.
All corner cases where the Mx codes do need to be handled individually,
are resolved in previous commits. Those corner cases are all scenarios
when I3C_ERROR_M2 is expected and acceptable.

propagating positive Mx error codes. Other call site should not suppress

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate

instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union

Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

"TYPE *".

The restore procedure is straightforward: issue a Reset Dynamic Address

Refactor the DAA path by introducing a shared helper used by both the
normal i3c_master_do_daa() path and the new extended restore function,
