In mms114_setup_regs(), the driver mistakenly uses props->max_x instead
of props->max_y when configuring the low bits of the Y resolution
(MMS114_Y_RESOLUTION).
Fix this by using the correct property.

The driver defines the I2C packet layout using C bitfields in struct
mms114_touch. This is not portable as the layout of bitfields within a
byte is compiler-dependent and varies with endianness. On Big Endian
systems, the fields will be parsed incorrectly.
Fix this by redefining struct mms114_touch with plain u8 fields and
introducing bitwise macros to extract the values portably.

If the touchscreen controller reports a touch ID of 0, the driver
calculates the slot ID as touch->id - 1, which underflows to UINT_MAX.
This is passed to input_mt_slot() as -1.
Since the input core ignores negative slot values, the active slot remains
unchanged. The driver then reports the touch coordinates for the previously
active slot, corrupting its state.
Fix this by rejecting touch reports with ID 0.

Instead of using an enum and conditional switch/if statements throughout
the driver to handle differences between chip variants (MMS114, MMS134S,
MMS136, MMS152, MMS345L), introduce a variant-specific descriptor
structure that encapsulates variant-specific properties (name, event
size, presence of configuration registers) and callbacks (such as
get_version). Define descriptors for each supported chip and associate
them with the matching entries in the OF and I2C device ID tables.
This eliminates the need for variant checks in the driver logic, making
it easier to support new chip variants in the future.
Note that there is slight change in device names:
MMS134S: "MELFAS MMS134 Touchscreen" -> "MELFAS MMS134S Touchscreen"
MMS345L: "MELFAS MMS345 Touchscreen" -> "MELFAS MMS345L Touchscreen"

Avoid taking the machine down with BUG() if a caller ever requests a
read spanning the write-only MODE_CONTROL register; warn and return
-EINVAL so the driver can recover.
Additionally, fix parameter alignment to match the open parenthesis
in several functions to conform to the kernel coding style.

The driver currently uses udelay(MMS114_I2C_DELAY) (50us) to ensure a
mandatory delay between I2C transfers in __mms114_read_reg() and
mms114_write_reg().
Both functions invoke underlying I2C core operations (i2c_transfer,
i2c_master_send) which acquire mutexes and sleep. Furthermore, the
interrupt handler mms114_interrupt() is registered as a threaded IRQ
handler. Since the entire execution path is fully sleepable,
busy-waiting with udelay() for 50us unnecessarily wastes CPU cycles.
Replace udelay() with usleep_range() to allow the CPU to enter low-power
states or execute other tasks during the delay.

The MMS114 I2C touch controller uses 8-bit register addresses (0x01 to
0xF2) and 8-bit single-register data values. The helper functions
previously declared reg and val as 32-bit unsigned int, requiring
explicit bitwise masking (& 0xff) to narrow the values down to u8 before
populating the I2C transfer buffers.
Update reg and val parameters to u8 across mms114_read_reg(),
mms114_write_reg(), and __mms114_read_reg() to accurately reflect the
hardware specification and eliminate the redundant & 0xff masking.
Additionally, update the val buffer pointer in __mms114_read_reg() from
u8 * to void * to allow callers to pass data structures directly without
requiring explicit casting.

The MMS134S and MMS136 touch controllers have an event size of 6 bytes
rather than 8 bytes. When __mms114_read_reg() reads the touch data
packet from the device into the touch buffer, the events are packed
tightly at 6-byte intervals. However, the driver iterates through the
events using standard C array indexing (touch[index]), where each
element is sizeof(struct mms114_touch) (8 bytes) apart. As a result, any
touch events beyond the first one are read from incorrect offsets and
parsed improperly.
Fix this by explicitly calculating the byte offset for each touch event
based on the device's specific event size.

mms114_interrupt() reads a packet of touch data from the device into a
fixed-size on-stack buffer
struct mms114_touch touch[MMS114_MAX_TOUCH];
which holds MMS114_MAX_TOUCH (10) events of MMS114_EVENT_SIZE (8) bytes,
i.e. 80 bytes. The length of the I2C read into it is taken verbatim from
the device:

packet_size is a single device register byte (0x0F) and the only check
is the lower bound packet_size <= 0; it is never bounded against the
size of touch[]. A malfunctioning, malicious or counterfeit controller
(or an attacker tampering with the I2C bus) can report a packet_size of
up to 255, so __mms114_read_reg() writes up to 175 bytes past the end of
touch[] on the IRQ-thread stack: a stack out-of-bounds write that can
overwrite the stack canary, saved registers and the return address.
A well-formed device never reports more than the buffer holds, so reject
an oversized packet and drop the report, consistent with the handler's
other error paths, rather than reading past the buffer.

While being less compact, using named initializers allows to more easily
see which members of the structs are assigned which value without having
to lookup the declaration of the struct. And it's also more robust
against changes to the struct definition.
The mentioned robustness is relevant for a planned change to struct
i2c_device_id that replaces .driver_data by an anonymous union.
This patch doesn't modify the compiled arrays, only their representation
in source form benefits. The former was confirmed with x86 and arm64
builds.

These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id,
so don't explicitly initialize this member.
This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires
either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice
cleanup on its own.
While add it, also remove commas after the sentinel entries.

MELFAS MMS114 and similar touchscreens have support for touch keys.
Enable support of them in the driver. The keycodes to emit can be
controlled by the linux,keycodes DT property.
Sidenote - the MAX_TOUCHKEYS value is set to 15, as that's the
maximum value that the ID field can contain. I don't have access
to any datasheets that could confirm or deny whether this is accurate.
Most downstream drivers I've been able to find only use up to 2 keys
(though I did find a driver that mentioned up to 4, but only 2 were
used). They don't have any checks for a maximum keycode value, it is
just extracted from the ID bits (0xf mask).
The drivers I've been able to find also don't use touch ID 0; I assume
that it is never used, so the keycodes provided in the DT start from
touch ID 1. I suppose this is in-line with the regular behavior
for touch IDs in touchscreen events, as there the provided touch ID
is always lowered by 1, which would cause an overflow if it was 0...
Just in case, we quietly return if the touch ID is set to 0 here.
The implementation of the linux,keycodes property handling code was
adapted from the msg2638 driver.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()
call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then
03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert
back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from
struct i2c_driver.

SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() is deprecated as it requires explicit protection
against unused function warnings. The new combination of pm_sleep_ptr()
and DEFINE_SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() allows the compiler to see the functions,
thus suppressing the warning, but still allowing the unused code to be
removed. Thus also drop the __maybe_unused markings.

The Melfas MMS136 is similar to the other MMS variants but
has event packages of 6 bytes rather than 8 as the others.
The define is named FINGER_EVENT_SZ in the vendor drivers
so I renamed it from MMS*_PACKET_SZ to MMS*_EVENT_SZ.
After this patch, the touchscreen on the Samsung GT-I8530
works fine with PostmarketOS.

disable_irq() after request_irq() still has a time gap in which
interrupts can come. request_irq() with IRQF_NO_AUTOEN flag will
disable IRQ auto-enable because of requesting.
On the other hand, request_irq() after setting IRQ_NOAUTOEN as
below
irq_set_status_flags(irq, IRQ_NOAUTOEN);
request_irq(dev, irq...);
can also be replaced by request_irq() with IRQF_NO_AUTOEN flag.

MMS345L is another first generation touch screen from Melfas,
which uses mostly the same registers as MMS152.
However, there is some garbage printed during initialization.
Apparently MMS345L does not have the MMS152_COMPAT_GROUP register
that is read+printed during initialization.
TSP FW Rev: bootloader 0x6 / core 0x26 / config 0x26, Compat group: \x06
On earlier kernel versions the compat group was actually printed as
an ASCII control character, seems like it gets escaped now.
But we probably shouldn't print something from a random register.
Add a separate "melfas,mms345l" compatible that avoids reading
from the MMS152_COMPAT_GROUP register. This might also help in case
there is some other device-specific quirk in the future.

MMS345L is another first generation touch screen from Melfas,
which uses the same registers as MMS152.
However, using I2C_M_NOSTART for it causes errors when reading:
i2c i2c-0: sendbytes: NAK bailout.
mms114 0-0048: __mms114_read_reg: i2c transfer failed (-5)
The driver works fine as soon as I2C_M_NOSTART is removed.

The MMS114 platform data has no in-tree users, so drop it.
Switch to using the standard touchscreen properties via
touchscreen_parse_properties(), and move the old DT parsing code
to use device_property_*() APIs.
Finally, use touchscreen_report_pos to report x/y coordinates
and drop the custom x/y inversion code.

as such. This also allows us to drop some initialization code as

The I2C core always reports the MODALIAS uevent as "i2c:<client name"
regardless if the driver was matched using the I2C id_table or the
of_match_table. So technically there's no need for a driver to export
the OF table since currently it's not used.
In fact, the I2C device ID table is mandatory for I2C drivers since
a i2c_device_id is passed to the driver's probe function even if the
I2C core used the OF table to match the driver.
And since the I2C core uses different tables, OF-only drivers needs to
have duplicated data that has to be kept in sync and also the dev node
compatible manufacturer prefix is stripped when reporting the MODALIAS.
To avoid the above, the I2C core behavior may be changed in the future
to not require an I2C device table for OF-only drivers and report the
OF module alias. So, it's better to also export the OF table to prevent
breaking module autoloading if that happens.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.

When it uses regulators the mms114 driver checks to see if it managed to
acquire regulators and ignores errors. This is not the intended usage and
not great style in general.
Since the driver already refuses to probe if it fails to allocate the
regulators simply make the enable and disable calls unconditional and
add appropriate error handling, including adding cleanup of the
regulators if setup_reg() fails.
