This is another run of the Coccinelle script for converting kmalloc()
family of allocations to kmalloc_obj() via the existing rules in
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci
This catches both the set of kmalloc() uses added since the first
kmalloc_obj() conversions in v7.0 and adds a large group missed in the
first pass due to Coccinelle not interacting well with the cleanup.h
scoped_...() family of macros[1]. I worked around this with spatch's
"--macro-file" argument to a file with all the scoped_...() macros mapped
to Coccinelle's YACFE_ITERATOR[2] as that was the closest viable control
flow indicator I could find.
Build tested allmodconfig on x86, arm64, arm, loongarch, mips, powerpc,
riscv, and s390 with no new warnings.

mana_gd_query_max_resources() sizes gc->num_msix_usable from resp.max_msix

Each GDMA queue ring is one dma_alloc_coherent() of the whole ring size.
Such high-order allocations fail first under memory fragmentation, so
queue setup can fail with memory still free.
The hardware does not need the ring physically contiguous:
mana_gd_create_dma_region() already maps it as a list of MANA_PAGE_SIZE
(4K) device addresses. Only the driver's linear CPU view needs
contiguity, and it goes through mana_gd_ring_ptr() and
mana_gd_ring_contig_avail(); change both to map offsets onto
scattered pages.
Add a fallback in mana_gd_alloc_memory(): data-path queues pass
allow_scatter=true, so when the contiguous allocation fails the ring is
backed by a vector of scattered PAGE_SIZE (order-0) coherent pages,
presenting the same DMA page-list layout to the device. The HW channel
bootstrap keeps allow_scatter=false, and the debugfs ring dumper reads
scattered rings through the same helpers.

In preparation for backing GDMA queue memory with a vector of
non-contiguous order-0 coherent pages, route CPU access to a queue's
ring buffer through two new helpers: mana_gd_ring_ptr() returns the CPU
address of a byte offset into the ring, and mana_gd_ring_contig_avail()
the number of bytes left before the ring wraps, so a WQ write that runs
past the end of the ring can be split at that point.
Convert the EQ, CQ and work-request paths to use them.
mana_gd_write_sgl() now takes a byte offset rather than a raw pointer,
so mana_gd_post_work_request() derives the SGL position arithmetically.
While queue memory is contiguous both helpers are simple arithmetic on
the ring base and size, so there is no functional change.

On some ARM64 platforms with 4K PAGE_SIZE, page_pool fragment
allocation in the RX refill path can cause 15-20% throughput
regression under high connection counts (>16 TCP streams).
Add an ethtool private flag "full-page-rx" that allows the user to
force one RX buffer per page, bypassing the page_pool fragment path.
This restores line-rate (180+ Gbps) performance on affected platforms.
Usage:
ethtool --set-priv-flags eth0 full-page-rx on
There is no behavioral change by default. The flag must be explicitly
enabled by the user or udev rule.
The existing single-buffer-per-page logic for XDP and jumbo frames is
consolidated into a new helper mana_use_single_rxbuf_per_page() which
is now the single decision point for both the automatic and
user-controlled paths.

mana_create_rxq() returns a struct mana_rxq pointer and returns NULL on
any failure. The caller, mana_add_rx_queues(), cannot tell what went
wrong and hardcodes the error as -ENOMEM. As a result the actual failure
reported by the lower layers (for example -EPROTO from a failed HW
request) is masked and every RX queue creation failure looks like an
out-of-memory error.
Return an ERR_PTR() encoded error code from mana_create_rxq() on failure
instead of NULL. The caller now propagates the returned error code
directly instead of substituting -ENOMEM.

This is a debug-only aid for bringup and qualification: skipping the

MANA allocates RX buffers from page pool fragments when frag_count is
greater than 1. In that case the buffers remain DMA mapped by page pool
and the RX completion path does not call dma_unmap_single(). As a result,
the implicit sync-for-CPU normally performed by dma_unmap_single() is
missing before the packet data is passed to the networking stack.
This breaks RX on configurations which require explicit DMA syncing, for
example when booted with swiotlb=force.
Fix this by recording the page pool page and DMA sync offset when the RX
buffer is allocated, and syncing the received packet range for CPU access
before handing the RX buffer to the stack.

Before the commit 755391121038 ("net: mana: Allocate MSI-X vectors
dynamically"), all the MANA IRQs were assigned statically and together
during early driver load.
After this commit, the IRQ allocation for MANA was done in two phases.
HWC IRQ allocated earlier and then, queue IRQs dynamically added at a
later point. By this time, the IRQ weights on vCPUs can become imbalanced
and if IRQ count is greater than the vCPU count the topology aware IRQ
distribution logic in MANA can cause multiple MANA IRQs to land on the
same vCPUs, while other sibling vCPUs have none (case 1).
On SMP enabled, low-vCPU systems, this becomes a bigger problem as the
softIRQ handling overhead of two IRQs on the same vCPUs becomes much more
than their overheads if they were spread across sibling vCPUs.
In such cases when many parallel TCP connections are tested, the
throughput drops significantly.
Fix the affinity assignment logic, in cases where the IRQ count is greater
than the vCPU count and when IRQs are added dynamically, by utilizing all
the vCPUs irrespective of their NUMA/core bindings (case 2).
The results of setting the affinity and hint to NULL were also studied,
and we observed that, with this logic if there are pre-existing IRQs
allocated on the VM (apart from MANA), during MANA IRQs allocation, it
leads to clustering of the MANA queue IRQs again (case 3).

Commit d7709812e13d ("net: mana: hardening: Validate adapter_mtu from
MANA_QUERY_DEV_CONFIG") rejected any adapter_mtu value smaller than
ETH_MIN_MTU + ETH_HLEN, including 0, returning -EPROTO and failing
mana_probe().
Some older PF firmware versions still in the field report
adapter_mtu as 0 in the MANA_QUERY_DEV_CONFIG response. With the
hardening check in place, the MANA VF driver now fails to load on
those hosts, breaking networking entirely for guests.
MANA hardware always supports the standard Ethernet MTU. Treat a
reported adapter_mtu of 0 as "the PF did not advertise a value" and
fall back to ETH_FRAME_LEN, the same value used for the pre-V2
message version path. Only jumbo frames remain unavailable until
the PF reports a valid MTU.
Other small-but-nonzero bogus values are still rejected, preserving
the original protection against the unsigned-subtraction wrap that
would otherwise let ndev->max_mtu underflow to a huge value.

mana_gd_create_mana_wq_cq() leaves queue->id as 0 (from kzalloc_obj())
until mana_create_wq_obj() assigns the firmware-returned id. If creation
fails before that, cleanup calls mana_gd_destroy_cq() with id 0, NULLing
gc->cq_table[0] and silently breaking whichever real CQ owns that slot.
Initialize queue->id to INVALID_QUEUE_ID right after allocation, matching
mana_gd_create_eq(). The existing (id >= max_num_cqs) guard then

mana_query_link_cfg() sends an HWC command to firmware on every call,
but the link speed and QoS values it returns only change when the
driver explicitly calls mana_set_bw_clamp(). This function is called
not only by userspace via ethtool get_link_ksettings, but also
periodically by hv_netvsc through netvsc_get_link_ksettings and by
the sysfs speed_show attribute via dev_attr_show, resulting in
unnecessary HWC traffic every few minutes.
Add a link_cfg_error field to mana_port_context to cache the query
result. The field uses three states: 1 (not yet queried, initial
value set during mana_probe_port), 0 (success, speed/max_speed are
valid), or a negative errno for permanent errors like -EOPNOTSUPP
when the hardware does not support the command. Transient errors and
qos_unconfigured responses are not cached so that subsequent calls
will retry.
MANA is ops-locked because it implements net_shaper_ops, so the core
already takes netdev_lock() around all ethtool_ops and net_shaper_ops
entry points. Reuse that lock to serialize mana_query_link_cfg() and
mana_set_bw_clamp(). This prevents a concurrent mana_set_bw_clamp()
from racing with an in-flight query and publishing stale pre-clamp
speed/max_speed.
Invalidate the cache inside mana_set_bw_clamp() on success, so all
current and future callers that change the link configuration
automatically trigger a fresh query on the next mana_query_link_cfg()
call. Also reset link_cfg_error during resume in mana_probe() under
netdev_lock(), so that any query already in flight cannot later
store 0 and silently overwrite the post-resume invalidation.

Use GIC functions to create a dedicated interrupt context or acquire a
shared interrupt context for each EQ when setting up a vPort.
The caller now owns the GIC reference across the EQ create/destroy
lifecycle: mana_create_eq() calls mana_gd_get_gic() before creating
each EQ and mana_destroy_eq() calls mana_gd_put_gic() after destroying

Replace the GDMA global interrupt setup code with the new GIC allocation
and release functions for managing interrupt contexts.
This changes the per-queue interrupt names in /proc/interrupts from
mana_q0, mana_q1, ... to mana_msi1, mana_msi2, ... to reflect the
MSI-X index rather than a zero-based queue number. The HWC interrupt
name (mana_hwc) is unchanged.

To allow Ethernet EQs to use dedicated or shared MSI-X vectors and RDMA
EQs to share the same MSI-X, introduce a GIC (GDMA IRQ Context) with
reference counting. This allows the driver to create an interrupt context
on an assigned or unassigned MSI-X vector and share it across multiple
EQ consumers.

When querying the device, adjust the max number of queues to allow
dedicated MSI-X vectors for each vPort. The per-vPort queue count is
clamped towards MANA_DEF_NUM_QUEUES but will not exceed the hardware
maximum reported by the device.
MSI-X sharing among vPorts is enabled when there are not enough MSI-X
vectors for dedicated allocation, or when the platform does not support
dynamic MSI-X allocation (in which case all vectors are pre-allocated
at probe time and sharing is always used). The msi_sharing flag is
reset at the top of mana_gd_query_max_resources() so it is recomputed
from current hardware state on each probe or resume cycle.
Clamp apc->max_queues to gc->max_num_queues_vport in mana_init_port()
so that on resume, if max_num_queues_vport has decreased due to fewer
MSI-X vectors, num_queues is reduced accordingly before EQ allocation.
A device reporting zero ports now results in a fatal probe error since
the per-vPort MSI-X math requires at least one port.
Rename mana_query_device_cfg() to mana_gd_query_device_cfg() as it is
used at GDMA device probe time for querying device capabilities.

To prepare for assigning vPorts to dedicated MSI-X vectors, remove EQ
sharing among the vPorts and create dedicated EQs for each vPort.
Move the EQ definition from struct mana_context to struct mana_port_context
and update related support functions. Export mana_create_eq() and
mana_destroy_eq() for use by the MANA RDMA driver.
RSS QPs now take a vport reference via pd->vport_use_count to ensure
EQs outlive all QP consumers. The vport must already be configured by
a raw QP before an RSS QP can be created. EQs are only destroyed when
the last QP (raw or RSS) on the PD releases its reference.
Restrict each vport to a single RSS QP. The hardware only supports one
steering configuration (indirection table / hash key) per vport, and
mana_disable_vport_rx() on QP destroy disables RX globally for the
vport. Previously, creating a second RSS QP would silently overwrite
the first QP's steering config and destroy would blackhole all traffic.
This is now explicitly rejected with -EBUSY. Existing applications
(DPDK being the primary RDMA consumer) always create one RSS QP per
vport, so no real-world flows are affected.
Reject cross-port PD sharing for both raw and RSS QPs. Since EQs and
vport configuration are per-port, a PD is bound to the port used by
its first raw QP. Subsequent QPs on the same PD must use the same
port or the creation fails with -EINVAL. Previously this was silently
broken: with shared EQs it appeared to work, but with per-vPort EQs
a cross-port PD would cause wrong-port EQ teardown and corruption.
DPDK creates one PD per port so no existing flows are affected.
Serialize mana_set_channels() and the async per-port queue reset
handler against RDMA vport configuration to prevent RDMA from claiming
the vport during the detach/attach window. A channel_changing flag is
set under apc->vport_mutex before detach and checked by
mana_cfg_vport() when called from the RDMA path, blocking RDMA from
grabbing the vport during the entire window. When the port is down
and RDMA already holds the vport, the channel change is rejected with
-EBUSY.

Make ethtool not take rtnl_lock for SET commands when operation
is performed on an ops-locked driver. cfg/cfg_pending are now
ops-locked, since only ethtool modifies them.
Some SET driver callbacks will still need rtnl_lock, most notably
those which may end up calling netdev_update_features() or the qdisc
layer (via netif_set_real_num_tx_queues()). Let drivers selectively
opt back into the rtnl_lock with a new bitfield in ops.
We need two helpers since Netlink and ioctl cmds have different
values. Keep the helpers side by side in common.h to make sure
they get updated together, even tho they will only get called
from ioctl.c and netlink.c.
SET commands which don't use ethnl_default_set_doit() are converted
by subsequent commits.

When mana_per_port_queue_reset_work_handler() runs after a previous
detach succeeded but attach failed, the port is left in a detached
state with apc->tx_qp and apc->rxqs already freed. Calling
mana_detach() again unconditionally leads to NULL pointer dereferences
during queue teardown.
Add an early exit in mana_detach() when the port is already in
detached state (!netif_device_present) for non-close callers, making
it safe to call idempotently. This allows the queue reset handler and
other recovery paths to simply retry mana_attach() without redundant

When queue allocation fails partway through, the error cleanup frees
and NULLs apc->tx_qp and apc->rxqs. Multiple teardown paths such as
mana_remove(), mana_change_mtu() recovery, and internal error handling
in mana_alloc_queues() can subsequently call into functions that
dereference these pointers without NULL checks:
- mana_chn_setxdp() dereferences apc->rxqs[0], causing a NULL pointer
dereference panic (CR2: 0000000000000000 at mana_chn_setxdp+0x26).
- mana_destroy_vport() iterates apc->rxqs without a NULL check.
- mana_fence_rqs() iterates apc->rxqs without a NULL check.
- mana_dealloc_queues() iterates apc->tx_qp without a NULL check.
Add NULL guards for apc->rxqs in mana_fence_rqs(),
mana_destroy_vport(), and before the mana_chn_setxdp() call. Add a
NULL guard for apc->tx_qp in mana_dealloc_queues() to skip TX queue

In mana_hwc_rx_event_handler(), resp->response.hwc_msg_id is read from
DMA-coherent memory and bounds-checked, then mana_hwc_handle_resp()
re-reads the same field from the same DMA buffer for test_bit() and
pointer arithmetic.
DMA-coherent memory is mapped uncacheable on x86 and is shared,
unencrypted, in Confidential VMs (SEV-SNP/TDX), so each load goes
directly to host-visible memory. A H/W can modify the value
between the check and the use, bypassing the bounds validation.
Fix this by reading hwc_msg_id exactly once using READ_ONCE() into a
stack-local variable in mana_hwc_rx_event_handler(), and passing the
validated value as a parameter to mana_hwc_handle_resp().

The RX path allocations for rxbufs_pre, das_pre, and rxq scale with
queue count and queue depth. With high queue counts and depth, these can
exceed what kmalloc can reliably provide from physically contiguous
memory under fragmentation.
Switch these from kmalloc to kvmalloc variants so the allocator
transparently falls back to vmalloc when contiguous memory is scarce,
and update the corresponding frees to kvfree.

Convert tx_qp from a single contiguous array allocation to per-queue
individual allocations. Each mana_tx_qp struct is approximately 35KB.
With many queues (e.g., 32/64), the flat array requires a single
contiguous allocation that can fail under memory fragmentation.
Change mana_tx_qp *tx_qp to mana_tx_qp **tx_qp (array of pointers),
allocating each queue's mana_tx_qp individually via kvzalloc. This
reduces each allocation to ~35KB and provides vmalloc fallback,
avoiding allocation failure due to fragmentation.

During Function Level Reset recovery, the MANA driver reads
hardware BAR0 registers that may temporarily contain garbage values.
The SHM (Shared Memory) offset read from GDMA_REG_SHM_OFFSET is used
to compute gc->shm_base, which is later dereferenced via readl() in
mana_smc_poll_register(). If the hardware returns an unaligned or
out-of-range value, the driver must not blindly use it, as this would
propagate the hardware error into a kernel crash.
The following crash was observed on an arm64 Hyper-V guest running
kernel 6.17.0-3013-azure during VF reset recovery triggered by HWC

gc->shm_base = gc->bar0_va + mana_gd_r64(gc, GDMA_REG_SHM_OFFSET);
The offset is used without any validation. The same problem exists
in mana_gd_init_pf_regs() for sriov_base_off and sriov_shm_off.
Fix this by validating all offsets before use:
- VF: check shm_off is within BAR0, properly aligned to 4 bytes
(readl requirement), and leaves room for the full 256-bit
(32-byte) SMC aperture.
- PF: check sriov_base_off is within BAR0, aligned to 8 bytes
(readq requirement), and leaves room to safely read the
sriov_shm_off register at sriov_base_off + GDMA_PF_REG_SHM_OFF.
Then check sriov_shm_off leaves room for the full SMC aperture.
All arithmetic uses subtraction rather than addition to avoid
integer overflow on garbage values.
Define SMC_APERTURE_SIZE (32 bytes, derived from the 256-bit aperture
width)
Return -EPROTO on invalid values. The existing recovery path in
mana_serv_reset() already handles -EPROTO by falling through to PCI
device rescan, giving the hardware another chance to present valid
register values after reset.

In mana_create_rxq(), the error cleanup path calls mana_destroy_rxq()
followed by mana_deinit_cq(). This is incorrect for two reasons:
1. mana_destroy_rxq() already calls mana_deinit_cq() internally,
so the CQ's GDMA queue is destroyed twice.
2. mana_destroy_rxq() frees the rxq via kfree(rxq) before returning.
The subsequent mana_deinit_cq(apc, cq) then operates on freed memory
since cq points to &rxq->rx_cq, which is embedded in the
already-freed rxq structure — a use-after-free.
Remove the redundant mana_deinit_cq() call from the error path since
mana_destroy_rxq() already handles CQ cleanup. mana_deinit_cq() is
itself safe for an uninitialized CQ as it checks for a NULL gdma_cq
before proceeding.

In mana_destroy_rxq(), mana_destroy_wq_obj() is called unconditionally
even when the WQ object was never created (rxobj is still
INVALID_MANA_HANDLE). When mana_create_rxq() fails before
mana_create_wq_obj() succeeds, the error path calls mana_destroy_rxq()
which sends a bogus destroy command to the hardware:
mana 7870:00:00.0: HWC: Failed hw_channel req: 0x1d
mana 7870:00:00.0: Failed to send mana message: -71, 0x1d

In a CVM environment, hardware responses cannot be trusted. The
GDMA_QUERY_MAX_RESOURCES command returns resource limits used to
determine the maximum number of queues.
In mana_gd_query_max_resources(), gc->max_num_queues is initialized
from num_online_cpus() and successively clamped by the hardware-reported
max_eq, max_cq, max_sq, max_rq, and num_msix_usable values. If any of
these hardware values is zero, gc->max_num_queues becomes zero and the
function returns success. This leads to a confusing failure later when
alloc_etherdev_mq() is called with zero queues, returning NULL and
producing a misleading -ENOMEM error.
Add an explicit zero check for gc->max_num_queues after all clamping
steps and return -ENOSPC for a clear early failure, consistent with the
existing gc->num_msix_usable <= 1 guard.

As a part of MANA hardening for CVM, validate that max_num_sq and
max_num_rq returned by MANA_QUERY_VPORT_CONFIG are not zero. These
values flow into apc->num_queues, which is used as an allocation count
and loop bound. A zero value would result in zero-size allocations and
incorrect driver behavior.
Return -EPROTO if either value is zero.

In mana_remove(), when a NULL port is encountered in the port iteration
loop, 'goto out' skips the mana_destroy_eq(ac) call, leaking the event
queues allocated earlier by mana_create_eq().
This can happen when mana_probe_port() fails for port 0, leaving
ac->ports[0] as NULL. On driver unload or error cleanup, mana_remove()
hits the NULL entry and jumps past mana_destroy_eq().
Change 'goto out' to 'break' so the for-loop exits normally and
mana_destroy_eq() is always reached. Remove the now-unreferenced out:

In mana_probe(), if mana_probe_port() fails for any port, the error
is stored in 'err' and the loop breaks. However, the subsequent
unconditional 'err = add_adev(gd, "eth")' overwrites this error.
If add_adev() succeeds, mana_probe() returns success despite ports
being left in a partially initialized state (ac->ports[i] == NULL).
Only call add_adev() when there is no prior error, so the probe
correctly fails and triggers mana_remove() cleanup.

If PM resume fails (e.g., mana_attach() returns an error), mana_probe()
calls mana_remove(), which tears down the device and sets
gd->gdma_context = NULL and gd->driver_data = NULL.
However, a failed resume callback does not automatically unbind the
driver. When the device is eventually unbound, mana_remove() is invoked
a second time. Without a NULL check, it dereferences gc->dev with
gc == NULL, causing a kernel panic.
Add an early return if gdma_context or driver_data is NULL so the second
invocation is harmless. Move the dev = gc->dev assignment after the
guard so it cannot dereference NULL.
